Excellent Guide for the Inexperienced Hunter & Old Gunners
I've hunted for 50 plus years, but I'm always open to new ideas. Through experience, I've certainly learned my way is not always the best way. To find a source of information that can help me do something quicker, cleaner and more efficiently is welcomed with open arms. This book provided me with a couple of methods of butchering that were better than my old way. This book provides a wealth of information for those who are new to hunting and those who have not hunted for a long period of time. It covers a wide range of information from hunting gear, to shot placement on game, archery, game habitat, basic marksmanship, info on many different game species, recipes, and cleaning and butchering of the game. Though experienced hunters should know much of this info, there is still valuable insight that makes this book a worthwhile purchase, strictly my view. For those with little experience, this book is a jewel. If you have the bucks to purchase it, buy it. You'll be 100% happy you did. I cannot imagine that those looking for knowledge on this subject would be unhappy. Whatever you decision, I wish you warm campfires, good friends, laughter, and the wonders of the great outdoors.

The BEST Hunting Guide I Ever Owned!!!!!
Steve Rinella is literally the most awesome outdoorsman, hunter, and angler of all time! His ethics and the way he carries himself are why I am such a huge fan. I feel like no other person, show, or book explains hunting like Steve does. As a huge fan of his show MeatEater, and being a small game hunter and angler myself, I had to have this book.I changed a couple of my hunting techniques and even upgraded some of my gear, based directly on the information in the book. I found that I was more successful this hunting season because of it! I have already used some of the recipes for the upland game birds that I took this season and they were awesome!Whether you are a seasoned hunter or brand new to the outdoor sport, this book is a must have. The wealth of knowledge in it is amazing to say the least!I loved this book so much, that I ordered his other book, The Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Wild Game: Volume 1: Big Game , and will be going on a couple big game hunts later this year because of it!

Not as many recipes as expected
We ordered both of his books and expected there to be more recipes. There is interesting information in the book but if you are looking for recipes I would get something else.

Best hunting author currently out there (circa 2018)
I am a fan of Rinella's from watching "Meateater" and listening to his "Meateater" podcast. I bought his first book "Meateater: Adventures in the Life of an American Hunter" and was hooked.I bought this book via Kindle but after a once-through reading decided to buy the paperback version of it so my other family members could read and reference it too. Once I got the book in hand I re-read it and I'm glad I did. For whatever reason I picked up a lot more from the paperback than I ever did from the Kindle version. I guess it probably has something to do with the reference-book feel this book has and the ability to skip around and gather in the whole picture of what this book offers up. The Kindle format works really well for a novel or a mono-formatted book like a historical non-fiction.......this book is neither. One thing I want to point out about Rinella..........his style of writing (and talking) and his methods, tools and attitudes towards the animals and pursuit really make sense to me. As a transplanted Mid-westerner now living and hunting in the West myself I can really identify where he's coming from on having to evolve from Midwestern traditions and methods about hunting to the Western US approach to the critters out here in the West. Until I'd read Rinella I hadn't stumbled across anyone that eloquently and accurately describes this transition.

The Hunter's Bible Volume 2
I purchased Volume 1, Big Game last year and since then it has become my bible. As a small game hunter I waited on purchasing Volume 2 but something Mr. Rinella said on his Meat Eater podcast made me realize my mistake. To paraphrase, you will get a lot more time and practice out of hunting almost all year round if you become a proficient small game hunter. So I purchased the Bible Vol. 2.This volume is packed with so much information I didn't even consider when small game hunting, as well as techniques for hunting certain species that I previously stayed away from out of ignorance. If you want to become a better hunter, you need to purchase both volumes. Together they have set the benchmark in informative hunting material.

A Hunter's or Outdoors man's Best Friend
Husband was a fan of the show "Meat Eater" and I purchased the book for him. Not only does he love it, I LOVE IT. I've made several recipes and all were excellent. You don't have to use wild game and the tips and tricks are great. Tips about dogs (which we having hunting dogs) and other stories and ideas. Perfect gift for any hunter.

It's a must
Love this book. Gives you good technical techniques, good feedback from other hunters, personal insight from steve, and all the little things you would want to know. I would definitely consider this a must for any new small game hunter, but even the experienced hunter should read this because it's got so much valuable info crammed into it. What I appreciate about the author is he gives real world info such as personal gear choices and lots of info for hunters that aren't just doing private land. Breaks things down into categories by species, hunting techniques, gear, butchering, recipes.

Include in every sportsmans library
I love this book. It is an excellent compliment and follow up to the first volume for big game. It is written well enough that my 11 year old is reading it just to read. If you can produce a book that an active 11 year old will sit down to absorb regularly then you are doing it right. Heck, he's starting to tell me how to do stuff now. Good job guys.

Best for USA audiences but great for UK /EU too
This book and its first volume are 100% USA centered, BUT being in the UK you can 100% utilise alot of the content, if you're into meat/ shooting / hunting / tracking or generally just the outdoors this is for you.

A lof of hard work and passion in this book!
Fantastic book, great photography, easy to read and absorb the information. First heard Steven Rinella on the Joe Rogan podcast and heard him mention his books. Being from the UK I am limited to small game hunting but both books in the series have opened up my knowledge that I can hopefully put to good use one day.
