While the Grado was an upgrade over the base AT cart that came with my Music Hall TT, this Sumiko cart is that much better. While the Grado certainly feels 'accurate', the Moonstone makes you feel like you're in the room. It's not a cheap cartridge, but if you've been exploring the world of vinyl for a couple of years and are ready to start optimizing your setup, this cartridge is a great choice for the money. Review: Phenomenal Cartridge and Stylus OMG!! - I have several very nice Cartridges including the Sumiko Pearl which I didn't think I was going find another that sounded better without going into $1000.00. I took a gamble because of how happy I was with the Pearl and bought the Moonstone. OMG the sound this thing produces for $299.00 is unbelievable!! Tracks at exactly 2 grams. I have all the nifty tools to set all the other settings such as tracking angles anti skate -overhang etc,. and this baby sings like a bird. The highs are so crisp and clean it's hard to believe it's coming off vinyl. The mids are perfect and the bass is non -boomy just very tight and the overall frequency ranges are so life like you could actually say this thing was 3 times the price. Wow/Flutter is almost non resistant even on mildly warped LP's. The sound goes beyond Blu-ray audio when this is set right - trust me you will be pleased. I'm tracking it on a completely restored 1978 Lab-400 Turntable with an upgraded Entre' headshell with upgraded Audiocraft $150 leads $250 gold and silver cables with custom suspension under a custom solid Tiger Wood plinth with new DC Servo Direct Drive custom 24 pole motor. Sumiko has me sold for my future upgrades and replacements. All in all a kick-ass cartridge/stylus at $299.00 - I rate it an A+++++ Five Star *****!! ## Features - Cartridge Type: Moving Magnet - Stylus: 0.3µM x 0.7µM Elliptical - Frequency Response: 12Hz - 33kHz - Recommended Force: 2.0g - Cartridge Weight: 6.5g ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07DD6LYDJ | | Best Sellers Rank | #39,891 in Musical Instruments ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments ) #191 in DJ Turntable Cartridges | | Brand | Sumiko | | Brand Name | Sumiko | | Color | Black | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 62 Reviews | | Item Weight | 1.6 ounces | | Manufacturer | Sumiko | | Model Number | Moonstone | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Part Number | 844682008240 | | Pull Force | 2 g | | Shape | Round | | UPC | 844682008240 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Sumiko - **Color:** Black - **Number of Pieces:** 1 - **Pull Force:** 2 g - **Shape:** Round ## Images ![Sumiko Moonstone Moving Magnet Phono Cartridge - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71N0rbObXFL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this fit on the at-lh11h universal ½"-mount headshell?** A: It is a standard mount (vs P mount) **Q: How does this compare to ortofon bronze?** A: I do not have a Bronze, but I do have a Blue. I would say the Moonstone is very musical, but the detail is inferior to the Ortofon. However, the Ortofon can be bright, depending on your other components. I have never had the Moonstone sound harsh, but, I am a detail guy... I'd probably try the Wellfleet if I was going Sumiko. Hope that helps. **Q: Will this cartridge fit my ar xa head shell?** A: It should. All cartridges will fit all headshells. **Q: Difference between Olympia?** A: If I remember correctly the Moonstone was the top model in magnetic, so everything else would be coil and higher priced, or below the Moonstone in the lineup. I have been totally wowed by the Moonstone. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredibly warm and rich sounding *by R***N on September 14, 2026* I upgraded to the Sumiko Moonstone after using a Grado Black cartridge for a while. I will say it's a bit particular in terms of setup. But once you dial it in it's fantastic to listen to. Clear highs, present mids, and punchy clean bass. After a 20ish hour burn in I honestly wasn't happy with it in my uturn orbit, but after adjusting the VTF down to the lower limit of 1.8 grams it really opened up. Could not be happier with this after running an Ortofon 2m Blue, which is also a great cart. But this is just so much more musical and pulls you in to listen even more. It beckons you to sit and listen for hours. ## Frequently Bought Together - Sumiko Moonstone Moving Magnet HiFi Pick Up Cartridge with Precision Diamond Stylus - Mini Digital Turntable Stylus Strength Scale Gauge High Precision 0.01g/5g Blue LCD Backlight for Toning Arm Cartridge - Ortofon SME stencil overhang template --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.nl/products/98800242-sumiko-moonstone-moving-magnet-phono-cartridge](https://www.desertcart.nl/products/98800242-sumiko-moonstone-moving-magnet-phono-cartridge) --- *Product available on Desertcart Netherlands* *Store origin: NL* *Last updated: 2026-10-18*
