Alba Botanica Acnedote Oil Control Lotion, 57g

I love this oil contol lotion after using the face wash. I've been using it for years. It keeps my face moisturized, but not oily. I hope they bring it back.

I like this product very much. It is a replacement for Neutrogena Rapid Clear daily lotion, which I can’t find any more. I wanted to give this one a try because it seemed closest in formulation to the Rapid Clear. I do like it very much, my skin is clear and smooth and not dry. The scent is a bit unusual — the willow bark extract has a distinct scent but it is not a bad smell, actually I like it quite a lot. It reminds me so very much of the first Clinique moisturizer I used years ago that had the willow bark extract. it was pretty expensive, but this Acnedote product is not expensive. I quite like it and I ordered a second tube so when what I have is gone I’ll have some on hand.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with the results. My skin used to be super oily, but over the past few months it has changed more to somewhere between combination and normal. For years I have used 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, but was starting to find it way too drying now that my skin is less oily. After switching to this Alba lotion, right away I noticed the little bumps I get on my forehead going away, and some larger pimples along my jaw and around my nose have dried up faster than usual, and I've had no new major breakouts since I started using it. I can't really speak to how well it controls oil except to say I find it slightly drying, but not as much as benzoyl peroxide. The only cons are that it does sting a little when you put it on, and I think the smell of the essential oils in it is a little strong. The smell does dissipate pretty quickly, so that's just a minor issue. I also want to add that I think some reviewers have implied that this is a moisturizer because it is called a "lotion" but it isn't, it is just a creamy skin treatment. It is a little drying so you should definitely follow up with a moisturizer if you don't want your skin to feel tight and overly dry and flakey.

I use this in the morning as my day lotion and occasionally at night as a spot treatment for trouble acne. It works better than any of the other acne products I've tried. It does not irritate my skin and makes it look more toned. I like how it had less chemicals than other acne lotions on the market. I am not 100% acne free, but this does work. I also noticed that if I use an acne product 24/7, the effectiveness of that product will gradually drop, as though my acne is building an "immunity" to it. This is why I only use this lotion once a day, and sometimes I will use argan oil as a moisturizer instead. It may only be me, but not being overly consistent with the product seems to make it work better. I was also told by a dermatologist that the effectiveness raises if you use one type of acne face wash in the morning (ex. salytic acid) and then a different one at night (such as benzyl peroxide). If you are struggling with acne and nothing helps, you can give this advice a try. However, it may not work if you have sensitive skin. Also, try not to rub your face too much while washing or your acne will become more irritated.
