7 YEAR FOLLOWUP - IT IS AMAZING GOOD. Vacuum Loss Chart attached (hint: almost no leakage).
No problems, but I haven't had it long. It's holding vacuum without extraordinary handling.7-YEARS-LATER: this container is EXCELLENT, did not implode nor crack, and still holds enough vacuum for a month to keep the coffee beans fresher. Just have to mash the lid on while pumping, and sometime clean or lube the gasket. Vacuum Loss Chart attached (hint: almost no leakage). I've been using a hand pump and it starts holding about 210mbar and if the gasket is clean and lubed with mineral oil then it leaks about 5mbar per day.VACU VIN, BRING THESE BACK! Come on, why are you only selling these in Europe, what's up with that!

Great, but preferred the tinted version.
Originally were tinted or smoked plastic with dark lid. Many items are light sensitive. I've heard that coffee beans break down by light. Works well, but preferred the original tinted version...which would have gotten the full five stars. Vacu Vin is the only brand of vacuum containers I have purchased, but I have not had any problems creating and keeping a vacuum in these containers. Sturdy, well constructed and holds a vacuum well.

Needs a better rubber stopper.
Not very happy. This item is very well constructed, but it's very difficult to create a vacuum in it. If you don't hold the pump carefully in a vertical manner, it won't take and keep a vacuum. It keeps releasing the vacuum you just put in it. I have another product by this company, and it works much better, when it comes to applying a vacuum. The engineer who designed the rubber stop didn't do a very good job. The canister and lid though, are very well made.

Acceptable flaws if only it held a vacuum
Grabbed the Large (2.3L) version of the Vacu Vin storage container as it looked good for storing coffee beans. It holds just under 2lbs of whole bean coffee. The good news is that the canister is sturdy, the design is unobtrusive looking, and it can be vacuumed down to around 500mbar.The bad news is that it has a hard time maintaining a seal. For starters, the lid/top is designed in an asymmetric pattern-- two corners are of a slightly larger radius than the other two. The lid kinda fits on in both orientations, but one you'll never get a proper seal. This adds a slight inconvenience as you have to look at the container then look at the lid and get them oriented properly before closing. Next, you'll be pumping a lot to evacuate the air from the container. It takes about 30 pumps before you will start to feel resistance and then another 10 to 20 depending on what pressure you want. The problem now is how fast it loses the vacuum, which varies sometimes to the point that all the pressure can be lost in just a couple of days. I've attached a a graph of a pressure sensor I kept inside the container over the past month which shows this variable depressurization rate, even after lubing the gasket with food-safe lube. (Average outside pressure ~1020mbar)Finally the shape of the container is much smaller at the bottom than at the top which means there is a lot of "lost space" if you're filling a cabinet with this container. This would probably warrant a 4 star review but the inability to do the one thing it is supposed to do (hold pressure) means 2 stars for me.

Great product
These are great. We first purchased those for storing coffee and were very happy. Since then, we have purchased and used several of the largest ones and like how they preserve freshness of items stored in them

Holds about three pounds of coffee beans.
I got this hoping it would hold 5 pounds of coffee beans (I order coffee online). It holds only about three pounds. I prefer to keep the beans in an airtight canister such as this instead of putting them in the freezer. I have an earlier smaller version of this with smoked plastic and black top and would have preferred to have the same again. But I will keep the canister in a dark pantry closet so it doesn't matter all that much. Works well. May have to purchase another.

Great food saver
These containers are excellent for keeping dry foods from getting stale. I had originally purchased the wine corking set so I had the small vacuum pump. I had also purchased the coffee keeper set so I also had the larger vacuum pump. The larger one is definitely better for these big containers but, it doesn't 'click' when you get near optimal vacuum the way the smaller pump does. I find myself using the large pump to do most of the work and the small one to finish - a bit inconvenient.

Great for Coffee Beans!
I love this container I bought the Large one to hold coffee beans, we buy our coffee from costco and even the large one is not quite big enough. with coffee ignore pumping instructions as you need to pump more as there is a lot of air space. this really helps keep coffee fresh even restores it a bit.

but so far so good (about 3 weeks)
A little pricey, but so far so good (about 3 weeks). Seems to vacuum seal very well to keep my toddler's cereal and gold fish crackers.
