Hello, My Name Is Ruby: A Picture Book

Have 3 granddaughters under the age of 4. Wanted to get each of them a book with their name on it. This book was everyone’s favorite!! Ruby the bird was small but fierce! My Ruby is small but fierce!! Great story great art work. Will be a childhood piece she has forever!!

Wonderful little tale about making friends. Ruby is a friendly bird who goes from place to place to politely introduce herself and ask if any bird she meets wants to be her friend. She learns a little bit about each one she meets. Some like to fly, others can't and one bird is not interested in her at all, and while it saddens her, that's perfectly okay. She finally finds a flock of birds exactly like herself. Stead's sparse dialogue gets to the point immediately, that everybody is different. We should not be intimated by those differences, or in fact if someone chooses not to be a friend, we have to move on and find someone who will.. In the end, birds of a feather do not have to flock together, they can flock with a variety of differences and enjoy each other.Lovely book, about breaking the ice, moving on and having confidence in yourself.

This book is a sweet story about making friends. My 6 year old is a bit shy, so we love to read this book and talk about how Ruby tries to make friends. Even though she met one grumpy bird (who hasn’t) she was tough and didn’t let it keep her from trying to make friends. Pictures are beautifully illustrated.

Bought this for my soon to be daughter named Ruby. I was really looking forward to this. This book is more illustration focused than actual story. My husband and I read it together and it just isn’t easy to follow. Parts of the story don’t make sense unless you assume what’s going on by referencing the photos.

I love the Stead books, the stories and the artwork. The first was "Bear Has A Story to Tell" and I buy more every time I find a new one. The stories are dear and the art beautifully done. I have 4 very young grandchildren so I keep a library of books I consider treasures at my home for all to enjoy. It seems I love them just as much as the children.

My Granddaughter is arriving in August and her name is going to be Ruby! The story is great and the books was well made!!!

Our daughter is Ruby... and there were 3 Ruby's in her day care class. We bought one for home and one for her class to share - This is a really cute book if you have a Ruby of your own!

A sweet book on the ups and downs of making friends. I like how the author shows that not everyone can be your friend but keep trying to make new friends. The drawings are beautiful and very eye catching.
