CHM3D Door Chime, White

I used the “NEWHOUSE Hardware CHM3D Door Chime”as the chime for my Ubiquiti Unifi G4 Doorbell Pro. This chime was listed as a “Compatible Chime” on the Ubiquiti G4 Doorbell Pro product page. After proper wiring (don’t forget the tiny Unifi Black Box), the chime functioned as expected. The item is very simple. There are no premium features, and no unique eye-catching design touches on the blank white plastic cover. The bell rings and the box becomes unobtrusive and invisible over time. I found no difference in the volume of the chime over the late 1980s chime the NEWHOUSE chime replaced. I wish the manufacturer placed the logo on one of the sides of the item instead of the horizontal bottom right position. I had to install my chime vertically and it would have been nice not to see the logo vertically positioned “on its side.”

I don’t usually write reviews, but because it is harder and harder to find accurate ones anymore, I decided to. Don’t listen to some of the negative reviews, this is all the info you need, got it??? It took 3 mins to install, if it takes you longer, please SLAP YOURSELF, seriously! The one review said the hole for the wires was too small, wrong hole jack! I have a feeling they were trying to put the wires through the top, vertical screw hole. This is identical to my old NuTone model LB12 except it is a more modern matte white color. Size, screw hole pattern and wire configuration is identical, covers are even interchangeable if you like. If you have repeat issues with a chime failing you probably have a shorted switch. I think some people reviewing this had that issue. Bottom line, it’s a cheap, effective chime. Probably could be a little louder, but good enough for us non paste eaters of the world! Worked as it should for a while. One of the coils overheated and quit working but apparently that was due to a stuck button (also Newhouse brand).

I got this chime to replace the previous 10V one that I had because I was installing a Ring Wired Doorbell Pro that needed more power than my previous doorbell transformer could give it. After installing the new transformer, this chime was easy to install and works great with the new 16V transformer and the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro. It supports two different sounds for different doors if you have wiring from different doors, but I'm only using the front door connection. Replacing my previous 10V chime with this 16V one was easy and only took a few minutes. No problems with installation.

Easy to install and looks nice. It works when wired to my one front doorbell (a Google Nest Gen 1 set for mechanical chime), ding dong sounds classic and nice medium volume, but it chimes with an electrical sounding buzz when it chimes. I have it on a new 24v transformer, perhaps too much voltage? It is not constant and rarely activated, so I am leaving it installed. All wiring is correct and tight and I have researched the wiring setup to death, do I know it's the chime. One helpful tip, if you are using a Google Nest or similar smart doorbell, set it to activate your indoor chime, but be sure to select that you have a mechanical chime (not electronic), it will ring quicker and buzz less when it rings. Nothing's perfect nowadays, and neither is this door chime.

Worked perfectly to replace old malfunctioning doorbell.

I had no luck with this item. I replaced my old doorbell chime which was an electronic type with a very pleasant three tone with the CH3D chime and it sounded terrible and made a buzz sound. I then replaced the transformer, with no improvement, then re-pulled the wire, new button, and still no improvement. I bench tested it and not any better. I returned it and received an email that there was a problem with my return. The return instructions said to package it in the original box, which was torn so I tossed it out. Could the box be as valuable as a nonfunctional doorbell? I then purchased a Craftmade CTMB-PR doorbell and couldn’t be happier. A little more cost but well worth it.

I replaced our door chime because I thought the old one had finally given up, but it turns out it wasn't the doorbell at all. Anyway, I kept this doorbell chime because it was a lot nicer looking than the one we had. It looks and sounds great. If you have a ring doorbell however, make sure you get guidance from Ring on the correct settings for your door chime. Glad I bought the door chime.

Bought to pair with the UnifI Door Bell G4. It does the job, the chime is loud enough. Installation is easy, quality is good and sturdy.

The chime is short and to the point. It gets the message across......answer the door! Ordered it to update from old doorbell thingy. Easy to install.....for the reno guy. My husband doesn't install anything!

It is just ok. Would like the second bell to be louder I will not hear it at times
