Fun little kit, but failed to actually erase.
This Klutz Make Mini Eraser Cuties Craft Kit comes with eraser clay in four colors, a package of glitter, 30 black plastic headpins for eyes, a general clay shaping tool and a cardboard display you can assemble to display your erasers. This was my first experience with eraser clay and with a Klutz Make kit. I have used polymer clay a lot before and was interested in trying eraser clay and thought this kit would be good for a beginner. This kit is definitely for children, but it made it easy for me to test out eraser clay for the first time. The clay is soft and easy to mix, but I found it pretty hard to sculpt anything well, especially compared to polymer clay. This is not the fault of the kit - they try to make it as easy as possible. But I think maybe that is just what eraser clay is like in general? I made the Pupperoni Pizza, the Meow-Maid and the Baby Dragon (changed it a little bit though) from the instructions. The other erasers I made (in my picture) were not designs featured in the booklet, but I wanted to try something different.I was really disappointed with their ability to erase after I baked them. I followed directions but maybe something went wrong because the only side that works as an eraser is the side that was flat on the aluminum foil when I baked it. The rest of the eraser does not actually erase, it only smears the pencil writing around. I attached a picture of the cactus and some writing next to it that I erased with different parts of the eraser to attempt to show this.Overall, I think this kit would be pretty good for children, as long as they don't mind the erasers not working very well. Different eraser designs have different difficulty levels. The Baby Dragon was really hard, even for me! But many of them seemed easy enough for most.

Fun idea but not an exact final product once you have it made.
Every time we tried to bake this it would just melt despite following instructions to the T. You end up with warped figure despite how much work you put into perfecting it prior to completing the mold.

My kids' favorite craft kit of all time; mine too: lots of themes available
My kids range in age from 5-12 and they love all things crafty. I love things that I can just hand over to them and turn them loose. The problem is that many kits, even with a 12 year old in charge, still require adult intervention. This is not the case with this set (although depending on your child's oven savvy it is still a good idea to have some!)The set comes with 4 different colors of clay but they can be blended to create marble patterns or new colors. The instructions are clear and cute, and the kids easily followed them. My 9 and 12 year olds were able to recreate the items with almost near, and in some cases, identical results to the pictures. The 5 years olds . . . not so much. But the booklet had "how-to's" for clay and with those instructions they were able to use their imagination for their own creations. In general they were limited only by what they could think up and all were pleased with the results. The kit includes tiny round black eyes which takes the cuteness to a whole new level, and to tool which was handy but nothing fantastic -- it has a sharp point, a U shape to make mouth/noses/scales/etc, a straight edge and a rounded point. It also comes with a paper background that they can put together to play with, in this case a rainbow. The kids loved it to shreds in short time so not a huge plus there. The clay cooks up at a low temperature in 30 minutes. You can't use the microwave. The underside (the part on the tray) seemed soft but appears to be fine. My kids got a huge kick out of the directions saying they had to cool an hour and "yes you must wait the entire hour." Their notes -- Things fall off prior to cooking and it was tricky to get them to stay, (but once cooked they stay fine). Follow the sizes or you will have a really teeny tiny creature. They would like more clay (but that's what keeps the parents coming back for more sets!). This kit comes with glitter (in a plastic bag taped to the inside of the box) which the kids loved . . . me not so much. Glitter. Everywhere. Enough said. The last comment would be that these will erase pencil, but not very easily or very completely and the process leaves black marks on your creation. But let's be honest . . . they want them more as pencil toppers or as tiny decorative items so the goal (at least for my kids) was never to use them to death.I see many many more of these great little kits in my future . . .
