Magnificent book for all Retro gaming fans
The entire Bitmap Books visual compendium range is worth picking up if you are a Retro Gaming fan - the content is visually excellent and the written content is engaging and fun to work through. Even experts stand to learn something new from a read. This ZX Spectrum focussed book (closely followed by the Amiga) book is my favourite in the series so far. The nostalgia is real - and spotting titles I played as a kid but couldn't remember by name just based on the screen shots was really exciting!

Fantastic
Great book. The speccy was THE games machine in the 80s. Great nostalgia

Brilliant book, poor packing by Amazon
The book is fantastic - high quality, interesting articles and game comments. I highly recommend the book but will be buying direct from Bitmap Books in the future:The packing by Amazon, not so good and resulted in dented corners of the book.I brought the SNES visual compendium direct from Bitmap Books and their packing is amazing - The best I have seen for a book.

Back to a glorious past!
Essential book for those who lived the 80's with the Spectrum or equivalent (I had a Timex 2068) as a companion! Long days and nights discovering a world of colour and sounds and an alternative reality that made us grow our personality.

Trip Down Memory Lane!
I remember as an 11 year old back in 1983, Christmas, the best ever! I raced down the stairs and found my wish-list had come true and I'd just found my Sinclair 48k Spectrum, tape recorder and a selection of games (from Memory; Penetrator, Manic Miner and Horace Goes Skiing (although could be wrong on the last one!)).I spent many hours over several years playing on that, and reading this book, bought all my childhood memories of this groundbreaking, wonderful home computer back to life. A great trip down memory land and seeing some of the old screenshots again in all their colour-clashing glory made me smile.Yes, some of the pages are very hard to read because of the colours used, but part of me accepts that as it all feels very nostalgic! Long live the memory of the Spectrum!

A beautiful coffee table book!
This book is absolutely gorgeous. Bitmap books is becoming well known for producing great-quality highly enjoyable retro gaming books. With their current kickstarter campaign for the C64, they're steadily creating a line of wonderful coffee-table books. Now, I'm hoping they'll make some retro-themed coffee tables for me to put them on :)Every page is eye-poppingly vibrant. No stolid loading-screens or banks and banks of stodgy text. The imagery is interspersed wonderfully with the text, and the text is both enjoyable to read, and nostalgia-inducing to the max.The market is getting quite saturated of ZX Spectrum game books, but I'm very glad I got this one. I just wish it covered more of the games I used to love!

Wonderful book
I already had the paperback version of this but saw the hardback at a great price. The spectrum forms a big part of my initial gaming experience and I have such fond memories of the numerous games back in the early 1980s. The pictures etc in this make a great homage to the speccy. Well worth a purchase for the book shelf 👍👍
