Perfect for beginners or a cheap campfire guitar
I've had this guitar for nearly two months now. I bought it as a cheap starter guitar that I could learn on, and when I feel I'm good enough, I'll upgrade to something more expensive. I'm pretty impressed with this instrument. It looks much better in person than it does in the images on Amazon. After the first week of playing and breaking in the strings that came on it I found myself rarely having to tune it. I take it with me everywhere I go so that I can practice whenever I have a spare moment, and it still looks brand new and sounds great. There is a little buzzing when playing notes on some of the lower frets, but nothing really noticeable to anyone but me, which could also just be poor strumming technique on my part since it isn't always there. The strings that come on it seem kind of heavy when playing certain bar chords, which I'm still not sure is the strings or poor technique on my part. I plan on restringing it this weekend with some Elixir light phosphor bronze strings to see if I can hear or feel a difference (it doesn't need to be re-stringed, I just want to try out a lighter string).I'm very happy with this guitar and my younger brother has been looking for a starter guitar and was considering a more expensive one before playing this one and seeing it was much better than the other $50 guitars we've come across.

Great starter guitar, liked so much a bought two.
I bought the pink one for my daughter last year and the blue one last week. My nine year old son just started lessons, I had him bring both his cheap child guitar and his sister's pink guitar. No surprise her guitar was much better. His teacher was impressed by the sound and how it stayed in tune over the week. I am not sure if I can recommend this guitar for serious players but for starters it is perfect. The price is great, I have no problems if he decides that he doesn't want to play in a few months. If he continues to play we can more up to another guitar, but for now this one is perfect. Plus, the blue and pink are both very nice looking.

Great little guitar, with some effort
My 7yo wanted a guitar of her own. I agreed, but wanted something smaller than a dread and cheap enough that I wouldn't be upset if she decided she didn't want to play it. (And, if possible, use it as a back up or camping guitar that doesn't sound like a toy). This guitar was all those things; but not without some effort (minus the 5th star for that). They call it a 7/8th size. It's about 3/4" +/- shaved off every dimension and about 1/8th" narrower at nut and about 1/4" narrower at the saddle. And even though the neck is shorter, Rogue maintains a 25-1/2" scale by pushing the bridge farther away from the sound hole, so you get the full length of the strings when you play it. It feels surprisingly solid, has decent intonation (comparable or better than most full size starters), and holds its tuning really well. And it is also more comfortable for smaller bodies and hands. It sounds nice out of the box, but it's not very playable for young fingers. The light (I assume they were light) "Martin" strings it comes with are nice, but definitely feel hard. The action is also set too high to play it comfortably for very long. There is an adjustable truss rod. (Other reviews complain that the action isn't adjustable. Access to the truss rod is under the little triangle with 3 screws on the head stock. Remove it, and it exposes the rod end just under the nut. It is not inside the sound hole at the base of the fret board like most guitars built today).Once you lower the action, those factory strings start buzzing, and they don't get any softer to the touch. I tried several different strings trying to find the right combination of sound and playability:Martin silk and steel, light -- softer but, muddy and dull for A and low E, still too much buzz.D'Addario EXP10, extra light -- similar in playabilty to Martin "silk", fixed the buzzing, but sound was too tinny. Finally:Ernie Ball Earthwood, "silk & steel extra soft" (10g- 50g) -- did the trick; nice feel, reasonably full sound, minimal buzzing with action set low. Everyone is happy, and I don't mind playing it when someone else wants to strum on my guitar. So that adds about $20 to the purchase price, but still a lot less than a professional set up. At $70 and an hour or 2 of labor, it's still a good bargain. My daughter picked the blue burst. I was terrified what it would look like in person on a $50 guitar, but it's not too bad. At least I haven't gotten the urge to refinish it yet.I don't want to over sell it. I wouldn't buy it for an adult for anything more than singing around a campfire, but It sounds about as good as any $100 full size starter, and is much easier to play.

Great product... great price!
We bought this guitar for my 9 year old son to start taking lessons on. Initially, I was really suprised at how beautiful it was, but extremely out of tune. Once we got it to his first lesson, and had it tuned properly, it was wonderful! It has a really great sound to it, and it stays in tune pretty good. Even his guitar teacher was impressed with it, and my son has been playing on it non stop! I like it so much that I am actually ordering another one for me, and my husband wants one too! I highly recommed this one....

The back side is damaged
First of all when I took out the guitar there was damage in the back, most likely because of the shipping, another issue is that the strings are really hard to press, and I’m not sure if getting new strings would fix that but still, other than that it’s a nice style (even though the damage on the back just throws it off :/) it’s a pretty ok guitar.

My son LOVES his blue guitar!
I bought this guitar for my son 2 yrs ago, when he was barely 5 years old as a Christmas gift. He is very tall so I assumed a 3/4 size would fit. It was big at first and he didn't have the best form to start - his teacher wanted us to get a smaller guitar but my son loves his blue guitar and refused to play anything else. He has now grown into this guitar. His teacher is finally happy with the fit & my son loves to play! The guitar has held up very well and I am happy about how easy it is to tune (it stays in or close to tuning easily even when traveling). The price was great for a beginner guitar. The sound is good - it is not what a $400 guitar sounds like, but it's great for an affordable price.

I love it so far
Just got it yesterday. It came much sooner than I anticipated, so extra points. I love it so far. It's the perfect size!! I am on the petite side, and trying to play standard guitars made me feel awkward and uncomfortable. The blue is pretty- I was oohing and aahing as I took it out of the box. Still a novice when it comes to playing guitar, but tuning was easy (I used the GuitarTuna app on my phone). Learned a few chords and it has a pretty nice sound. Overall I am quite pleased. Good times ahead!
