good stuff
Scribbles: A Really Giant Drawing and Coloring BookHave ever looked at a blank page and wondered what to draw but had no inspiration? Have you ever looked at a coloring page and wondered thought that there wasn't room to be creative? This book is a coloring book/drawing book with enough pages to keep you occupied for years. Each page has something drawn on it and instructions for you to complete the drawing, adding your own details and objects. I purchased this book for a young girl who likes to doodle. I also have one for myself. Crayons or colored pencils work best for these page. I would not recommend markers, as they do bleed through the page. Also, Place a blank piece of paper under the previously colored page so that color won't transfer to the next page by pressure. The Scribbles book is really fun, and a great gift for anyone who loves to draw. Best for ages 8-14 is my guess. but I am over 50 and enjoy it.

Awesome drawing book for all ages
I have given this book to myself, to my friends, to the children of my friends on at least 4 or 5 different occasions, everyone loves it! a wonderful passing time activity for couples, adults, on rainy, snow storm days. The drawings inside are simple and creative, you don't have to be an expert to produce something great, they are good for children of all developmental stages. I plan on giving it next to a toddler with down syndrome. wonderful book illustrative of cute japanese designs. it is best colored with crayons or color pencils. pastels work if you do it gently...

Keeps 6 and 7 year old engaged
Excellent kids coffee table book. I have this and two other Taro Gomi activity/coloring books. Closeby are a large assortment of Crayola markers, crayons, and colored pencils. Visiting kids inevitably spend a good amount of time going through these books, drawing, scribbling or doodling as the picture and text inspires them. My grand-daughter loves sharing her drawings and stories as she completes each activity and I love the sharing time. The book has general scenes with text suggesting how to complete the drawing. For example, the drawing might be a large dinner plate on several pages with text to draw something yummy to eat. Or several pages of a tree trunk with branches with accompanying text to add leaves to the tree, or birds,or insects. Every page engages their ucreative process. My 7 y/o granddaughter will read through and select a drawingto complete depending on her mood and day. My nieces and nephews (ages 5-8) are similarly engaged by these books. They're excellent gifts and every child would enjoy their own personal copy.NOTE: This book, Scribbles, has lighter weight paper appropriate for crayons and pencils. The "Doodle" book is heavier weight paper that accomodates paints and markers.

Nonreturnable; had already been used
Took a very long time to arrive only to find the pages had already been marked and colored on; nonrefundable so ended up throwing away

Inspires creativity
My daughter saw these at the bookstore and absolutely had to have them all. I told her she could, but that I would have to find them somewhere cheaper.($19.99) So, I did! I found them here at an awesome price, and she loves them. I was worried that they would hinder creativity because each page has a sort of direction on it, but it was not the case at all. The child is able to interpret in any way they desire, and the outcomes are beautiful and revealing. Very high quality books. We both love them.

Brilliant coloring book to stimulate creativity
As others have no doubt noted, this is not your standard coloring book. The author encourages creativity by requesting you help finish or modify pages as you see fit. My 4-year-old daughter enjoys the book quite a bit. But here are a few *nitpicky* details that some might want to consider before purchasing:1) The book is thick/heavy, so can be unwieldy to use if you're not at a table. It's also a little tough to get the book to stay open if you're a little one.2) I tried to remedy some of the above by tearing out pages for portability and ease of use, but many/most of the projects span two pages. So unless you're committed to taping or stapling pages together (I'm not), tearing them out doesn't really help.3) Finally, to get the most out of this book, the recipient would ideally be able to read. It's not always obvious what you're supposed to do on the pages, and it might be frustrating for a pre-reader (and his/her caregiver!) to constantly ask, "what does THIS say?"In sum - it's a fantastic book that would be suitable for many ages... I just offer these tidbits in case you're thinking about buying one for a preschooler.
