Woodworker Say's... Awesome!
When I was a kid and I got a new bike that I was proud of, I'd set it in my room so when I woke up in the morning it would be the first thing I'd look at to enjoy that Day. This is one of those products and ok I admit, I had to set it this on my night stand the first night I received it.The pictures do this tape measure little justice. It is through and through American Made USA Quality like something your Grandfather might have been able to purchase back in the day and hand down to you. The color of this is a little more reddish than the photo shows it reminds me of the leather on redwing boots. What makes this product really stand out is the thickness of the leather it is 3/16" thick on the tape holster part. Some of rivets through the leather are different then I've ever seen before. They appear as if there is an extra washer added to each rivet making the product as strong as a Sherman tank. I don't know much about leather but I can definitely see the quality here.As for Tape measures holders and a little aside for those reviewers who say these don't fit theirs. If you are going to use a tape measure holder consider these points . One Take off the metal clip you really don't need it. Two.. a good craftsman should condition themselves to return the tape to the holster at all times and not set it down. It will either grow legs and walk or you'll walk around all day looking for it. Three there was another reviewer who mentioned wedging it over night. I followed his advice, cut three wood wedges jam in the tape and jam in a wedge on three sides of the tape against the leather to stretch it over night. Should be good to go the next day. Yes leather is frustratingly stiff when new but it will form perfect and soften over time.I use a classic old school 25' Stanley Powerlock tape, I prefer these over the extreme curve of the fat max blade and ugly plastic and odd not so ergonomic shape of their casing. Going back to the Powerlock...I like how the word "Stanley" and the American flag logo on their new tapes sit perfectly above the cut line of the leather holster. I only wish Stanley would make their cases in metal again, but that's another review.....So I was a bit curious on what the heck kind of company would call themselves "Occidental" and should I advertise their name. I learned a few things in the process. The word Occidental from what I gathered on google means "West" it is opposite of the word "Orient" which means "East" and is a small town in California, where a bunch of hippies settled and tried to carve out a living in different crafts. Okay I'll go with that.Cons:There is only one con here and that is that this holder is going to last a lifetime, which means I can't buy another one of their products which in a way kind of sucks. I'd really like to try their high rise tape holster but for the meantime... I need to come up with an excuse to justify a second one. Hmm maybe one for the nightstand, I'm sure the Wife would love that.Great product, Glad to see there is still quality out there! Thanks Occidental!

Glass guy approved! ๐๐ฝ
Great pouch for all my necessities! Of course I use a small 16ft DeWalt measuring tape which is small but this measuring tape holder fits it great! Super good quality and well put together! So glad I picked this up! 5 Star Review from the glass guy!

The quality and construction is awesome. If I would ever need to purchase another ...
This pouch exceeded my expectations. Fits my Stanley lever lock 25' tape perfectly. I pulled the tool shield out and mostly use the center section to carry my 11 in 1 Klein, a pair of Cobra pliers, and an adjustable wrench. Bonus for me is the small sleeve to the side fits my 4 in 1 precision screwdriver perfectly. The quality and construction is awesome. If I would ever need to purchase another one I'd probably consider the model that has the steel clip in addition to the belt loop. It'd be nice to be able to take it on and off quickly. It's not bad when i'm in my work truck but it's a little cumbersome when I drive my car. Keep in mind that i'm 6'2'' and 260 lbs. so I fill up the front seat of a Focus pretty easily even without a tape measure, radio, 2 screwdrivers, pliers, and an adjustable wrench hanging off my left side.

Must stretch the leather a bit to fit a FatMax 16โ tape, but itโs worth it.
High quality, thick leather, great craftsmanship, made in the USA. I wish the tape holder pocket was slightly larger, it will not fit a Stanley FatMax 16โ tape, unless you stretch it first: You have to soak the leather in hot water, and jam the tape in to stretch out the leather. Adding some wooden wedges helps. Let it dry overnight, and youโll get a custom fit. Kind of like old Leviโs or a baseball glove. The hard plastic insert is great for holding pencils (without breaking the leads!), and a utility knife or whatnot.A little bit of work to get the tape to fit, but itโs worth it. Really nice quality product.

Must Have For Wokers
I bought this thinking I would use it occasionally at work... I use this for my tape, sharpie mini flashlight and pliers โ I removed the plastic linerโ Iโve had this in the snow, water, mud, sand, rock you name it and it has held up with 0! Issues.Be sure to soak the leather then put your tape and whatever else you want to form fit it. I also waterproofed mine after it dried with โSno SealโHope this helped.

Very handy. Tight on tape measure.
The tape is really tight. I carry a 25ft fat max and it has to be smashed in to fit horizontally. I just took the clip off and left in a vertical orientation. I carry a carpenters pencil one side and Milwaukee marker on the other. I keep my knife and an awl in the other part. Usually have it on when working as a cut man or casing windows etc. it keeps the tape from tearing up the pockets on my pants.

Ok
It holds a 25 foot fatmax but the plier holder doesn't work for my linesman pliers. Reason being the tape holder when it has a plier in the spot for it renders both pockets useless since the block each other. Maybe for really thin pliers it might work.

Donโt shoot me itโs only my opinion ๐
Well made but a little to bulky for finish carpentry

Very good
Very good quality, well built, very handy, almost a year of use and still very strong I do maintenance in houses and use this when I do service calls, saves me alot of foot steps. I used to have a fat max mesure tape but switch to power lock because it was un comfortable while getting in and out of the van.(tape is more slim but both fit realy well. Only cons I found is where you put a crayon is quite small.(had to trim fit one, but very well made wont break easily.)

Meh
The primary function of this is to hold a tape measure, and I have had to pick mine up off the ground many times already because it is too loose for a 30' stanley fatmax tape measure. I never had this problem when I was using my Occidental Leather 8584 Heritage FatLip Tool Bag. I wanted to switch to something lighter to interchange my setup as the main pouches were just filling up with rocks, dirt and water while building foundations, and i'm thinking about going back. Pretty disappointed

Great on its own or as an addition to a belt.
works great, in order to fit my stanley fat max tape in the holster i had to remove the plastic gard from the back pouch, remove the hook from the tape, and place the tape in upside down. since I've figured that out its worked great

Love my occidental pouches. Expensive but high quality.
Very high quality. Versatile and much more comfortable than a full pouch when you only need a few things.
