I’ve been using garden hose back flow regulators for 30 years. I’m familiar with their function and operation. We had an old leaky one, so I ordered this new two-pack. After trying both repeatedly, they simply didn’t work. The expected water evacuation (spray from the valve) did not occur. Also, the devices produced a lot of noise when the hose was running. The reviews are generally good, so I guess we just had some rare issue with both valves. Rather than exchanging them, we went on to a different brand. I’m sure the seller would have made good, but we decided to skip the hassle. EDIT: We purchased another brand and it works properly. That seems to rule out any role of the hose type or our hose bib etc.

Nice quality, much better than the ones the builder put on our house. Installation is straightforward. The hard part was drilling the old set screws out of the original ones. Great price for the pair.

We had a close call with a "yard faucet" in the concrete floor of our horse barn. In winter we always remove the attached hose so water drains back into the gravel 36" below, but forgot 10 days ago and the pipe froze. We managed to thaw it without digging up the concrete floor, but I was wishing there were a vacuum breaker that would fit between the faucet and the hose so if we forgot again there would only be a frozen hose. I didn't know these hose bibb connected vacuum breaker existed, but now we have them on all or yard faucets. They also prevent "bucket water" being sucked into our potable water system. Cheap safety item!

You can't go wrong with these brass fittings. I especially like the anchor screw. I have not had any issues with leakage.

I used generous amounts of Teflon pipe thread tape and even the extra gasket provided by the vendor, yet the connection still failed to hold. Despite multiple attempts and careful installation, the leak persisted, making the product unusable for my setup. It's frustrating when a product includes sealing accessories but still doesn't perform as expected. I would recommend looking for a more dependable alternative if you need a truly leak-proof solution.
