Dragon Avenger (Age of Fire, Book 2)

Wonderful and touching, even being "shorter" *SPOILERS*
So thrilled and excited I was because the previous book, Dragon Champion, I read this one's 373 pages in about 8 hours or so. Considering that english is my second language, to cover 45 pages/hour is a wonder achievement, especially in Brazil. I just ain't fast because I'm imagining things as the story goes. This books tells us the tale of Wistala, the sole female survivor of AuRel and Irelia's clutch. To those who say that her story seems a bit more "common",I think you need to translate this into Parl, I mean, human language.Imagine yourself safe at home, a 7yrs old girl. You have a talented and more beautiful sister, a brother who gets all Father's attention, and another brother, the oldest whom you don't even remember. Then one day, a serial killer enters the house alongside a few robbers. You see your older brother amongst them, and your father isn't home. Your mother hides you and your older brother in the basement and you both find the exit, going outside. Alone in this dangerous world. Your father comes home and is shot, but manages to run. The robbers saw you. your brother runs to distract them and never goes back. You go back into the house and see your mother headless, legless and without her skin. I think this itself can drive even a grown man mad for his life. Then you run. You find your crippled father and help him recover his health. The serial killer yet manages to find you again, killing your father. So, don't tell me this story is less brutal than the previous, thanks. It' strange yet thrilling that you definitely don't need to read the first book to understand this one and the other way around. I don't know how Knight's did it, but I give him my kudos for this. But it's clear on how they are intertwined. I mean, Auron "killed" the guy to whom the dwarves were capturing dragons for, and Wistala killed the dwarves' leader, the one who killed her mother. I can only imagine upon who Copper will lay his revenge!

I loved the first book for it's unique perspective
It's very interesting to see a fantasy world through the eyes of a dragon. I loved the first book for it's unique perspective, and this one was just as good. Once I finished the first one I had to have the second as soon as possible, so I got the Kindle version. The world this story takes place in is further filled in with this book, and it paints a picture of a magical world in the throes of change. There were one or two transcription errors, a missing letter here or there, but nothing that detracted from the reading experience.

A cozier sequel with a very different character arc
Books 1-3 of the Age of Fire series all begin at the same chronological start, starting when the dragons siblings hatch and dealing with the cave invasion. This book follows Wistala as she escapes her would be killers, falling into the care of a kindly elf noble going through hard times. What's interesting here is that Wistala goes through a completely different journey than Auron. Whereas Auron spends much of his journey surviving the wilds and dragon hunters, this book covers Wistala's dealings with humans and elves in the decaying empire of Hypatia. While Wistala still has to deal with danger, she is in far less peril than Auron was, and the stakes feel lower as a result. However, the book still has a very satisfying and clever conclusion, and answers many questions that were left open at the end of Dragon Champion.

Strong sequel, Wistala quickly became my favorite character
I enjoyed this sequel just as much as (if not more than) the first book in the series (the first three books in the series focus (individually) on the three siblings, telling things from their point of view while weaving a larger plot). I liked that as you read through this book, there were references to events that happened or were caused by the sibling who was the main focal point of the first book in the series, but the main character in this book didn’t know that her brother was involved (or even still alive).Definitely worth the time, though to provide full disclosure without giving away the plot, the quality of the last 2 books in the series took a marked step down from the first 4 (plot errors, typos, character inconsistencies, etc). I'd still read it though I wish the series had a stronger ending.

A good read!
I really enjoyed Dragon Avenger. It has been the best book in the series yet. The focus on characters and the pacing is just about right. Also Wistala is a much more personable character than AuRon. The descriptions and imagery are also more solid in Avenger. Overall I think that the book performs well, was enjoyable, and I look forwards to reading the next books.

Book 2, heres my review
I read this book and I got to say, E.E Knight managed to uphold the quality pretty well. Te plot is original and exciting to read, the characters feel 70-90 percent real and I really had a blast reading chapther after chapther. The story is now aking place from Wistalas POV. There are moments in this book that feel conected to the first one so that also holds your intrest. If you can, this sci-fy book is good to read, but not for very young readers though.

Enjoyed more then the first
It is rare the 2nd in a series is better than the first. This story is better, characters interesting. Can't wait to start the next.

Amazing Read
I am a big fan of E.E. Knight and the Age of Fire Book series. I feel that the author is able to sculpt a beautiful, dangerous world that is refreshing to read. Years back I emailed the author asking questions about some books as it had been awhile between releases and I had forgotten what happened in previous books. To my surprise I received a personalized email back from him re-iterating key plot points. This kind of attention to fans is why I will continue to follow any work he produces.Book two itself I felt was a great follow up to the first. The idea behind starting the book at the same place as the first, rather than a continuation chronologically was something I really enjoyed.

Very nice product
This was order alongside several other books of this series. This second part of the delivery arrived shortly after my first half so fast delivery was thought of when the product were separated. Was surprised when it was only partially dispatched but understood the reasoning behind it. Product quality was spot on and packaging was adequate for what was sent. All in all a nice experience and will be doing business more in the future.
