KidKraft Step 'n Store, Grey Fog

I have been looking for a simple stool for my son to use when washing hands in the bathroom. So many of the stools I found came in bright ugly colors. When I stumbled across this one- I just had to buy it! The color is nice and neutral and fits in great with our bathroom color and style scheme. The design is modern and well thought out . Its a great stool. My son loves to store his "treasures" inside the storage compartment while I store extra toiletries and wipes. This is one of those items that will last and my daughter will be using this in a few years. I will most likely be buying another one for our guest bathroom - this was a great buy!

This step stool is great, but beware when you are installing the screws for the top that you don’t screw them in all the way. Apparently they were a tad bit too long and chipped the paint. And I nfortunately this is the part of the stool that you see. Otherwise it’s great!

The stool itself is sturdy and a nice soft grey. The hardware nearly drove me insane. The latch part doesn't open enough so if you were to actually attach it (which you can't really) you wouldn't really be able to open or close the lid. I haven't had a chance to contact the vendor, but will update this post accordingly.

I am so disappointed. For $31, it should have come assembled! (How did I miss that detail? My bad, apparently.) Once assembled, it is just okay. Painful assembly and the worst past is the "hinge" doesn't function as a hinge! The top is in a permanently in closed position due to hardware malfunction. Plus the screw holes didn't line up on one side, only one of two screws could be used, so it is not all that secure. Waste of time and money!

A gift for our grandchildren

This step stool has been great. It's taller and has a wider platform than most other stools we looked at for potty training our daughter. The extra storange space is great for clean underwear too!

This product is advertised as being made of "solid wood", however upon opening the package the pieces looked like MDF. I called KidKraft and they confirmed that only certain parts are sold wood, others are MDF. This is going back.

Good quality, sturdy and durable.
