In the past, I would have my neighbor collect my mail, but she found this “too stressful,” especially if it rained. I then started putting my mail on hold, but sometimes my mail would still be delivered on the first day or two after I left, and delivery did not always resume on time after my return. So I needed a larger, covered mailbox and bought this one. It’s big enough to hold 2 weeks worth of mail (although during the election, I had my neighbor remove any political ads and the junk mail so that the box would not become too full). I am able to lock the mailbox, but I do not receive sensitive information in the mail and generally leave it unlocked which also makes it easier for my mail carrier to place my mail in the box since they can open the main compartment instead of having to try to fit everything through the slot. The cover protects my mail from the elements, and overall it was a very good purchase. Before installing the mailbox, I added a bird decal and house numbers to give it a distinctive look. I have had this mailbox in place for over a year now, and it seems durable and has had no color fade.
