The Sword and the Sorcerer (CROMWELL EL REY DE LOS BARBAROS - DVD -, Spain Import, see details for languages)

I remember this First time round and it would be Decades before Pyun would move away from His Robot/Cyborg/Action range of flicks and return with A Semi Sequel.The thing Sword always had going for it was its Campy,tongue in Cheek sense of Fun which was all wrapped up in a satisfying Swords and Boobs epic that you just knew its makers were not taking totally seriously.The acting is above average with Lee Horsley,Richard Moll and the always highly Hissable! Richard Lynch.Not the Best Fantasy flick out there but Head and shoulders above the Fantasy Dreck thats churned out these Days.

This is a German release disc but does play in English without forced German sub titles.A great "hero" action adventure,who has his own heroes theme in the music score not unlike Indiana Jones,though with more adult scenes of female nudity (brief) albeit in a comic manner and some gory violence in fight scenes and a villain from THE DEEP reprising his death in that movie. Still waiting for the promised sequel from closing credits,though.

Ignoring the quality which is a product of its time, the film was just bad.The story made zero sense and the thing that made it just too much to carry on with, was the terrible narration throughout it.It was so badly made that you needed the narration to explain stuff.I like crappy sword and sorcery films, but this is just way bad...

Dvd cam in great condition and plays without issue which is always a concern when buying second hand.

First saw this film as a kid back in the late 80's.Violent but great genre for feeding the imagination.Love the old, visceral special effects much more than unbelievable computer generated fx.Love Richard Lynch as Cromwell and the fight scenes.Sadly, the quality of the image is poor.Needs sharpened and cleaned up.

This is one of my old favourites and I was really glad to see it available on DVD, as I only recently got rid of my video version. I went for the slightly more expensive version of the DVD and I'm glad I did. It's a very good clear version of this now pretty old film. Top quality.
