Black Powder 2nd edition rulebook [Toy] Priestley, Rick

I didn't realise that when I bought the Zulu supplement, I would need to base game rules so ordered this too. Now I have rules to not only cover the Zulu wars, but Napoleonics and many other periods too. I just have to read up and get familiar with them. The book is superbly documented and an amazing had cover too.

What an amazing book which performs the amazing task of clearly organizing and explaining the Black Powder world of table warfare. As a newbie to table games I love the in-depth information and the quality of the pictures. It is also an impressive way to demonstrate to other members of the war table world the legitimacy of the black powder genre. I will be purchasing the additional book for the separate American Revolution guide to further and specifically understand the abilities and attributes of the specific armies involved at that time in history. This book has elevated my initial commitment to Black Powder games and has truly intrigued me to develop an accurate terrain environment for the game and to paint the miniatures in a more precise fashion. I know that Amazon is moving thousands upon thousands of packages every day… but this is a pretty expensive book. And Amazon started with books. This book arrived damaged, so I returned/reordered. The second books spine has shown up super damaged also. Both arrived in padded envelopes. Maybe a box would have worked a lot better?! Either way, I’m settling on the LEAST damaged book and will return the other. Great book. Bad job getting it to me undamaged.

Consider this a good reference for those interested in earlier war fare. I think those wanting it as a gamming manual will find it a bit heavy handed.
