500 PAGES of BEAUTIFUL JSF CODE
To start off; I would have to say the biggest PLUS is that this book is error FREE. I have bought every JSF book on amazon and have found 90% of them riddled with incomplete backing beans or erroneous implementation of JSF tags. I will not take credit away from the other books; I have learned a good deal from them. The author starts and finishes a subject with a complete and comprehensive piece of code; beginner or advanced ONE good thing is you will be able to run the code and best of all see a result. The book is geared towards all kinds of users; be you a beginner intermediate or advanced, but more so geared towards intermediate and advanced users. I have to say if you are a beginner which is the case with me; you will need to do more research on basic JSF material. You will not find beginners explanations of the JSF life cycle or what is are JSF UIComponent tags. But you will find a treasure cove of code on how manipulate and use JavaScript commands within your JSF pages.Other advanced topics will show you how to embed images within an input frame box; or changing color of input box if you click your mouse in a text box. I'm currently half way through the book. I feel I have found the secret book that contains the secret code snippets that the advanced programmers out there are using.Overall I find this book a great reference and worth reading twice or trice. Very pleased with my purchase.

Definitive information source
This book has something for everyone. For beginners, it explains the very basics, plus it provides understanding how JSF is connected with other vital technologies. And it even goes the extra mile to give beginners some healthy tips in the beginning. For those who are already familiar with current or previous revisions of JavaServer Faces technology, this books offers exhaustive tour of what JSF can actually do. Latest topics, like using lambdas in EL, is also covered. On the top of it, the language level of this book is very pleasant. When used as a reference guide, information can be found quite easily without getting lost in long paragraphs of useless text. Also, there are code samples to be found everywhere.

Bad editing and poor grammar are the most immediately noticeable ...
Bad editing and poor grammar are the most immediately noticeable issues with this book that fails to serve as a satisfactory guide to attaining mastery with JSF 2.2. I cannot recommend this book.

Comprehensive Reference on JavaServer Faces Features New to 2.0 and 2.2
"Mastering JavaServer Faces 2.2" comprehensively covers features added to JavaServer Faces (JSF) with JSF 2.0 and JSF 2.2 in roughly 530 substantive pages. As the book's Preface states, it is intended for "JSF developers who have previous experience and want to upgrade their knowledge to the new JSF 2.2." This is not the best book for someone looking for an introduction to JavaServer Faces, but rather is best suited for those who have some JSF development experience (particularly with JSF 1.x) and wish to learn about and start applying new features of JSF 2.0 and JSF 2.2."Mastering JavaServer Faces 2.2." is a solid reference on JSF 2.0 and JSF 2.2 features. It provides numerous code listings that are black font on white background with no color syntax highlighting and no line numbers. The book liberally references each example's availability online so that code can be downloaded to one's favorite IDE or text editor to get color syntax highlighting, line numbers, and other features that make code easier to read. There are several graphics in "Mastering JavaServer Faces 2.2" and most of them include color in the PDF edition I reviewed. The best way to see the type of content covered in "Mastering JavaServer Faces 2.2" is to browse the relatively detailed table of contents. This table of contents does a nice job of summarizing at a fairly specific level the topics covered in the book.I like that "Mastering JavaServer Faces 2.2" frequently referenced alternative JSF and Facelets implementations and compared and contrasted features they offered with the JSF standard and the Mojarra reference implementation. I also liked that the author, in several cases, mentioned features that were supposed to be supported, but were not working for him at time of writing the book.Although I reviewed this book at Packt Publishing's request, I had already purchased the electronic version earlier this year and received no compensation for this review.

Kindle format
Its is a comprehensive book, unfortunately Kindle for PC doesn't display the outline for this book. Tech books are read on PC with simultaneous coding on screen.I guess because of mistake from publisher, Amazon is lousy in updating Kindle for PC but can't rate it.
