Overall, I really enjoy using this thing! It's comfortable, and honestly, sometimes I forget that I'm actually "seated." Seriously! That said, I experience ZERO back strain with this thing which is AWESOME. Assembly was fairly easy and the cushions are pretty plush. Also, the fact that this chair is adjustable is a big plus because I'm about 5'7" and the desk I use this with is about 30" high. I will say that the key to this chair is positioning yourself properly. You don't want to sit too low where all your weight is focused on your knees and shins, and you don't want your rear to be too high where you're sitting over the edge of the stool awkwardly. Once you've found your sweet spot, you're golden! And like any chair, it's a good idea to changes positions or get up sometimes. Review: Nice chair, better posture! - I received my kneeling chair a day early - hooray! Assembly was pretty straight forward, took me about 20 minutes. Carried it upstairs (not too heavy) to try it out at my WFH setup. Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much, but I sit all day, and my back, neck and shoulders pay the price. It's worth a try, right? As I settled in, I found that a good bit of my posture issues went away immediately. I'm no longer slouching and hunched over my keyboard, but sitting upright! I know it won't cure my bad posture or completely eliminate neck pain, but it's a start! I have knee issues (both knees), but I'm not finding it to be an issue. I can put more weight on my shins than knees, and that seems to work for me. I'm going to have to get used to spending more than a couple of hours at a time on it, but that's ok!

Great Chair
My husband put the chair together for me and he did so quickly - I'm going to assume it was easy to put together otherwise he would have told me otherwise. As for sitting in it, it's very comfortable. However, I can see how people would complain about the time spent on their knees/shins. I don't have an issue with it, since those aren't my pain points, but it is a good reminder to stand up and move and get blood flowing all over. I have had 5 spine surgeries and having something I can sit on comfortably, I appreciate. I also have a standing desk, which is I guess counter-height for the average person (I'm petite at 5'1 so standing height for me may not be standing height for someone else.) I can raise the seat on this to reach the counter height desk. At the highest setting, keep in mind the seat part is more at a higher angle, meaning it's more 'behind' my behind, and not so much under my behind, but it's still comfortable. I hope how I am explaining that makes sense. Sorry I don't have photos to demonstrate this. The padding on the knees is nice, thick and soft yet firm.

Good for me
EDIT: after 10 months, the cushion is low, and the bolts holding the seat and legs together snapped out. I decided on this chair based on price and thickness of the cushion. I am a budget shopper and there was another chair for $5 less but the cushion seemed much thinner. I have used this chair for 2 weeks and has helped with my back pain and front adductor pain immensely. I don't feel this hurts my knees or shins...I do feel pressure on it, but not painful. This was almost a 4 star review because of the following: I am 5' 3" and I have it on the tallest seat position. It barely makes it just right for my desk/monitor height. However if I want the knee pad to come up higher, the seat position gets lowered, so the other 2 position don't work. But at the end of the day, only one positions works for me and my height, therefore 5 stars if it happens to work for you. I did not put on the caster wheels since I am on carpet and never plan to wheel around. My chair had absolutely no smell, I had no problem putting together the chair myself with the tools included. Again I am a budget shopper would never spend so much on a chair, but had to because of health issues. Would purchase again and recommend to others. Too bad the price went up $20 since I purchased - makes it the same price as the others I was comparing it against.

FANTASTIC CHAIR!!!
So, I just got my chair and couldn't wait to put it together. I'm normally pretty challenged with diagram type directions, but the directions I received were straight forward and it took me about 15-20 minutes to put together myself. I accidentally used a medium length bolt for the frame that was needed for the seat. Once I figured this out, I made the changes, but note: when you lay out all the hardware, make sure you take note of the bolt sizes. Rookie mistake on my part, not the company :). So for the 20 minutes I've been sitting on this chair I love it. I did have to adjust the frame to the middle setting so I wasn't too far forward, and it's much more comfortable for me. I love the height adjustment feature too. I'll try to follow up in a few weeks to let you know if anything's changed but so far I LOVE THIS CHAIR!!! Update: I COMPLETELY THIS CHAIR!!! I've used it for more than a week, maybe two and my back pain is almost GONE!!!! Not saying it's a magic cure, but for my back pain it really has been AMAZING. I have issues sitting a long time due to a collapsing disc and this helps keep the pressure off my tailbone (I work in an office in front of a pc most days) and I'm now able to run and play with my 3.5 year old again and I've started to exercise again too. BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT. I'm going to buy another one for use at my work office!!!

Seemed good at first, until after a few minutes of use, then the pain set in
The build quality of this chair is good, and it has well padded seating pads. Although, given what it consists of, which is just two metal frame pieces, two pads, and a few pins/screws, it is vastly overpriced. That being said, after I got the chair together, which only takes a few minutes, I had a seat and started working. At first, I really liked it. The seating position is good, and I was comfortable...until...after fifteen or twenty minutes, the extreme shin pain set in. It's almost unbearable. It's not the fault of the chair's padding, as I mentioned, the padding is of good quality. It's just that your shins are not meant to bear this type of pressure. Be warned that these kneeling chairs are simply an expensive exercise in trading one type of pain for another. The shin pain gets to the point where I just end up removing my legs from the chair and sitting on it as if it were a stool...and you can buy a nice stool for much less money.

Terrible Chair - wheels (multiple times) keep cracking, slow customer service with company
I ordered this chair in the hopes of learning to sit with my back straight now that I am working from home. After reading the reviews, it seemed to be a good fit. A few months after purchasing this chair, the wheel broke. It took weeks to get a hold of the company and receive my replacement wheel. While waiting for the replacement wheel, another wheel broke and was stuck in the lock position. Wrote the company Defy again, never received a response. Was able to still use the chair once my new replacement wheel came. Today, another wheel cracked and broke. I am well under the weight limit for the chair, apparently it is made cheaply (even though the cost of this chair is not cheap). Was thinking if possibly because I have this chair on carpet (flat) but doesn't make sense it shouldn't roll. I am so saddened and disappointed with this purchase, please do not purchase if you are considering, save yourself some $ and research another chair.

Perfect for my needs
This ergo kneeling chair was easy to put together. Those who are saying the instructions aren't clear have never been to Ikea. Separate the hardware into neat piles, look at the illustrations carefully to make sure the pieces are facing the right way, then use the included hex wrench to install and tighten the bolts. I assembled mine in less than 30 minutes. For those who complain about their knees hurting from using it--don't put pressure on your knees. Extend them over the front of the pad with your shins resting on the front pad. Most of the weight should be on your butt anyway. Your legs are on the kneeling pad as a source of rest, not as the main support. Also, it's not intended to sit in any work chair for hours at a time without getting up. This chair is no different. Get up every now and then to stretch and move around. Change positions--put one foot on the floor in front for a few minutes, then switch legs. Put both feet up on the pad and sit like a pill bug. The main thing is to find a balance with your torso and hips so you don't slouch forward. The weight is being distributed evenly across your lower back and legs. But don't expect to sit in it for hours without experiencing discomfort. That's going to happen with any kneeling chair if you're in the same position for an extended period of time. This is a great chair to change things up and be in a different position when I do any kind of work--at my desk, reading, sewing, whatever. The important take away is that it doesn't replace the chair I already have--I think of it as a supplement that provides an ergonomic advantage when my body needs a break.
