Design Toscano QL4281 Statue-Knothole Welcome Tree Door-Fairy Garden-Gnome Village, Multicolored

Mine may be defective, but the keyhole slot is too small . The hole accepts a #3 screw. Instructions call for it to be 1 1/4" long (not provided). That's a screw with a shank diameter a little thicker than the lead in a #2 pencil. They may have those in China (where this is made) but I surely don't have those in my shop. And if I did I seriously doubt I could screw it in to a tree without breaking it. The instructions indicate to fasten it to a wall (not a tree). If not fastening to drywall, I would suggest a 6d nail for hanging. I just carved out some of the heavy bark at the base of a cottonwood tree and wedged it in. It is very attractive measuring about 6x8 ( the Gnome itself measures about 6", about half the size of my "average" Gnomes). It has a really nice paint job as well. I would have given it 4 stars if not for the instructions. Instructions should be clear, easy to follow and easy to execute. I use caution when purchasing from a company who isn't familiar with /doesn't use their own products. I think, since they suggest the use of a screw,and not a nail, and to fasten to a wall, that this may be intended for indoor use. You need screw threads to get a good grip in wall board, but a nail should be sufficient in more solid substances such as wood or trees.

Although the product itself was very good as far as color and design, the attachment point on the back leaves a lot to be desired. On both Window Gnomes, I could not get a screw in the attachment slot. When the metal attachment plate was set in with glue, too much glue was used and filled in most of the slot. Once harden I couldn't drill it out sufficiently to slide the screw in. So I drilled a hole through the piece in an inconspicuous place; put a screw through it and into the wood and then dabbed some paint on the screw end. Looks ok. That process of gluing the metal plate in the back needs to be looked at more closely.

Ordered as a Christmas gift for a tree lover in the family. Box was crushed so item probably was broken in shipping. Returned after Christmas and received replacement item quickly. Also purchased the Gnome tree Door. These are such a cute addition to any tree and spark imagination in my niece that plays in the yard. "Things that make me smile ... Gnomes" :))

I bought this for a neighbours garden. They helped me when I was very ill earlier this year. They were very pleased and put it on a fence by the house that looks as though he's peeping through the fence. It is very well made and just the decoration that is different. Thank you.

Design Toscano gnomes (flat backed for hanging).I like them so much I'm actively looking around my garden for sites for more (but I don't want "normal" stand-up gnomes because the cats attack them!)

A very well made item, that was bigger than I was expecting, so good value for the money. I like it so much I am going to buy the door and gnome, that would compliment this piece.
