2014 release, Kent Record's second collection of this group's material from the Motown vaults. JUST A LITTLE MISUNDERSTANDING features all the material that the group cut between early 1965 and their demise in early 1967, along with all the known solo material cut by their final lead singer, Dennis Edwards, before he was enlisted by the Temptations as a replacement for David Ruffin in 1968. (Other featured singers include Joe Stubbs, Jerry Green and the group's original lead, Billy Gordon). 14 of the 26 featured tracks have never been heard before in this form - 12 of the 14 have never been heard in ANY form prior to this release. All these tracks feature the great and probably definitive Motown sound of the mid-'60s. We are sure many will find a home on the Northern Soul scene, which has supported the group's dance tracks since it's earliest days.

Great Motown
You should buy this just for the song, Baby Hit and Run, which I play continuously, and for Just a Little Misunderstanding, which is such a Motown Funk Brothers classic. Nice to hear the third alternative version of Baby Hit and Run and a different version of First I Look at the Purse. I am very glad all these songs have been released to hear more of the Contours and learn of the group's history in the excellent liner notes. My preference though is the Contours of '62-65, and the gritty soul songs they sang in the groove of Do You Love Me, so if you enjoy the slicker sounds of the Motown of later years, you'll enjoy that side of the Contours and their later lead singer Dennis Edwards too.

Real 60's Soul.
This cd by the contours is a real throwback to the 60's Motown sound. The soulful lead vocals by Dennis Edwards and Joe Stubbs are outstanding. The songs are solid dance worthy fare, well played by the funk brothers. The Contours were one of the most exciting groups of early days Motown, it would have been great if Motown had developed this group forward. The only downer is that the whole album is MONO but this time the music is so good that I am giving this album 5 stars.

I just had to hear the alternate version of, "First I Look At The Purse". Though the songs are monophonic, they actually sound good! Nice photo-filled booklet and recording dates are included!

Love this cd
Love this cd, the Contours is a greatly underappreciated Motown group who cut some really great songs. The liner notes are outstanding and helped to answer several questions about what happened to the group. My favorite cut on this set has got to be My Love Grows Deeper Everyday. Now that is a Motown soul record!

A brilliant must have CD
I purchased this CD on the strength of hearing do you love me and a little misunderstanding years ago but after listening to this CD I think the contours should have been up there with best at motown they had two great lead singers in joe Stubbs brother of Levi Stubbs of four tops fame and Dennis Edwards who took over from David Ruffin of the the temptations all in all a really great CD very much enjoyed

More Motown from the vaults
Very fine soul, much of it new, as part of a great trawl of Motown's vaults.

Great album.
A brilliant album of songs by one of the lesser-known Motown vocal groups.

Great track from the Contours "Just a little misunderstanding" - loved by the Mods at the time it came out in the U.K. as a "B" side. Check it out if you loved music from that era!!
