Hard to read
This book seams to repeat itself in many places. It’s a compilation of speeches and lectures rather than a thought out planned book. The subject is important but the reading was so boring that I could not finish it. I rarely throw books away but this one is in my scrap pile.

Bowlby brilliantly exposes his new methodology
This book is a classic in attachment. It points to the beggining of the cientification of psychoanalysis. Bowlby brilliantly exposes his new methodology, influenced by ethology, but keeps Freud's ideas as his theoretical frame. Besides, it brings a foreword by Allan Schore, who went farther than Bowlby, thanks to the development of contemporary neuroscience. I strongly recommend it for those interested in mother-baby early communication.

Low quality book binding
Very low quality binding. Multiple pages fell out of the binding before page 100. Look for another version.

Another fine Piece
As with Bowlbys' other works, this classic furthers the hypothesis of negative emotional influence on the continued development of humans as we integrate with our social environments. I liked it...in fact, liked all of Bowlbys' writings.

A Psychological Classic
This is one of the volumes in John Bowlby's triology addressing the concept of "attachment". It is considered a "classic" on the topic.

Great foundation to understanding attachment
Foundational seminal work from Bowlby. It is important reading in order to understand research that has built on Bowlby's work. This work is relevant still to contemporary understanding of human attachment. Essential reading to understand the effect of attachment on consequent loss. The writing is not overly complicated.

Bowlby revisited
Having used this text some 20 years ago and lost my original copy, it was good to be able to locate this volume via Amazon. It was in excellent condition and it was good to re-visit Bowlby's theories at a more 'mature' period of life-and after a few years of experience ! Bowlby's work has stood the test of time in many ways, but also, on reflection, revisiting some of his ideas in modernity, it still has a very valid place in the study of maternal attachment theories. This is particularly so when studying how societal nurturing and child rearing habits have changed and what the effect has been on child behaviours.
