good overall primer for stillwater fly fishing
I have looked at and read many books on Stillwater fly fishing but have only read one other book on this subject to which I could say provided as much if not more information on this subject area. The author appears to have taken an adequate amount of time to list out all of the areas of concern for becoming a good Stillwater fly fisher - starting with the basics and moving through each area (chapter) that are germane and important to this particular type of fly fishing. It was satisfying to read this book knowing that it was not just focused on a particular part of the country or a particular type/size of still water but covered those areas where this type of fly fishing is popular using all of the various methods (deep water, stripping, top water and dry fly). For anyone who has not engaged in this style of fly fishing, this book would help enhance and provide overall information on how to start and become proficient in this technique.

Stillwater Cafe
This book is a lesson or a look at what is living and feeding trout in your favorite lake or pond. Know your hatch and you can t go wrong. Not particularly easy to read, but very worth while. Good book still water anglers.

I'm confident my catch and enjoyment will reach a higher level
I am a beginning still water fly fisherman with several days of experience under my wader belt. This book is the next step of understanding after Jack Shaw's "Fly Fish The Trout Lake." Its more detailed and elaborate, but written so you can understand and learn (after all Mr. Gorman teaches this at a University). I'm just a few days from using what I've learned, on a 4 wk fishing vacation at California's Eagle Lake. I'm confident my catch and enjoyment will reach a higher level.

Basic Stuff, but nothing insightful for seasoned stillwater fishers.
If you are a beginning stillwater fisher, then this book might be what you are looking for. If you are addicted to stillwaters and seeking advanced insights, then this book is not for you. I found myself bored with the repetitive nature of the writing, and with the coverage of fly rods, fly reels, lines, leaders, and the like. Check it out at your library, and scan the fly patterns for something that might appeal to you, and then put it back on the shelf. Save your money for flies.

Fantastic read
This book got me excited about doing more still water fishing. It gave me the techniques and filled in the missing puzzle pieces to become a better still water angler. I believe the book has something from the beginner to the more advanced angler. The photography was great. I will keep this book in my collection to review each season. Highly recommend this book

Excellent look at US stillwater fishing styles
Very easy to read book broken into lots of different tips broken into bite sized chunks and also some recounts of fishing trips. Very interesting to see an approach using indicators and fish finders that are so frowned upon here in the UK. Also good look at some different kinds of water too and some interesting different fly patterns.

Un bon livre dans l'ensemble, mais qui ne livre pas la marchandise sur les tactique de pêches qui ma fois sont les mêmes que la pêche en lac au lancé léger. Belle section sur les mouches à la fin.
