I glued a wire on the back and hung it.

I expected carved wood (I glossed over the item description). This is some kind of foam poured into a mold and let set. It comes with a base coat so you can paint it if you like. I painted it with black, deep purple, and forest green. I installed it with exterior caulk as the glue to hold it to my ceiling. I like it so much I am considering purchasing more to paint and install all over my ceiling in my kitchen.

I ordered this medallion in addition to a few others. I painted them and hanged them on the wall as a decoration. They are beautiful and have more uses than surrounding a light fixture on the ceiling!
