Definitely worth the Money
When I purchased this, there was not one product review, so I had to wrestle with the thought of spending $ 88 for two pieces of “unqualified” foam. But, I figured having a total knee replacement is no joke, am I not worth spending this money to perhaps make my recovery a bit easier? So, I purchased the product and brought it with me to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City (the #1 orthopedic hospital in the country). But, I didn’t use it in the hospital because they had active compression on both legs. I was starting to second guess my purchase. Then the head physical therapist came into my room and saw that I had a Knee Buddy. He asked if he could take pictures of my Knee Buddy so he could show his other patients what the product was, tell them where they could purchase it and why it was benefitical for their home recovery. Ok, so maybe it was a smart purchase...... I did extensive pre-surgical therapy so I didn’t need to use the small cube end piece to help get to 0 flexion, which is what the cube piece is designed to accomplish. I achieved this goal within days after surgery. This cube as you can see from the picture attaches like a puzzle piece to the end of the angled wedge. Since, I am only a little over 5 feet tall, I called the company because when the small cube piece was attached to the wedge, my heel did not reach all the way into the cut out of the cube. The company said it wasn’t necessary. So, I kept the cube attached to the wedge, just so my foot would not dangle. The wedge is light weight, has a slight scooped out center for leg stability. The surgical leg emanates warmth because of the surgery, the open hole foam of the Knee Buddy prevented my leg from getting warmer or even uncomfortable. It provided me with the perfect level of elevation during my recovery. The foam is comfortable and soft. Yet, it never compressed and stayed in place at the foot rest of my chair recliner. It’s 12” width fit my chair recliner foot rest perfectly, leaving enough room for my other leg to lay straight or also elevate alongside the surgical leg. Sleeping for weeks with my legs elevated to reduce swelling, I never had to arrange pillows or worry about my leg slipping off the side. I honestly, will get use from the wedge long after recovery. Yes, it is worth the $ 88. A nice, hassle free recovery. My older sister visited me, who struggles with swollen legs and tried it, she thought it would be perfect for her when watching television to reduce the edema in her legs. I guess at our age, a Knee Buddy is a welcomed birthday gift. Lol. Honestly, spend the money. This surgery is hard enough, the Knee Buddy will make your recovery easier.

Essential recovery aid for total knee replacement
There are numerous knee support devices available online, but this is the only one I could find that offers 0° of flexion when your leg is elevated. Most of them have a slight bend behind the knee, which is absolutely contraindicated after a total knee replacement. Doctors recommend sleeping with your leg elevated on pillows under the ankle, and without anything behind your knee. This full leg pillow does the exactly the job, but with a lot more comfort. My physical therapist said hospitals should be discharging patients with these pillows. I’ve read complaints about the fact that it’s in two parts and sometimes comes apart. Just buy a crib sheet and that will keep the entire pillow together while you sleep (and is washable). Your physical therapist will have you use the ankle support separately for other extension exercises (which are ouch!) I’m 10 days post-TKR, and it’s a painful recovery, but at least this pillow makes sleeping a bit more comfortable. I know it’s expensive but do yourself a favor, it’s hard enough getting through a TKR - take advantage of all the available props and aids, and this, in my opinion, is an essential one. I still think it’s overly priced for a big piece of foam. I wish other companies would get on the bandwagon so they could bring the prices down with a bit of healthy competition :-/ but c’est la vie…

Great for elevating while icing
We added a twin flannel pillow case to hold the two puzzle pieces together. Worked well for elevating, to further reduce swelling, while icing.

Super overpriced but possibly helpful to knee replacement
I bought this for my recovery of a partial knee replacement. Positives: It’s a significant elevation for the leg which is difficult to attain with regular pillows. It keeps the knee perfectly straight, which is important after replacement. Negatives: outrageously expensive for a pieces of shaped foam. The foam does not have a cover nor does it have any means for the two parts of the foam to stay together, so it can’t really be shifted without coming apart. I used a throw blanket on it to keep it clean and keep my skin from rubbing on it, bit it did not keep it pulled together. It’s a magnet for hair - pet and human. It was also easy to take chunks out of it if you’re not careful. I’m not sure if I’d buy this again. It’s helped my recovery (I think) but it really should come with a cover and be much, much less expensive.

Don't even think of spending this much money on this product.
We bought this foam wedge for my husband's knee replacement surgery. We are very sorry we spent the money. This is nothing but cheap foam. The two pieces are like jigsaw puzzle pieces but come apart every time he moves. We tried duct taping it together but the tape won't stick to the foam. Even if it stayed together, it would not be worth $100+. The shape and idea are very good, the hight of elevation is very good but the product itself is just not made well and would. be worth 100 bucks even if it was. We fell for it. Hope you don't. There must be better ones out there for far less money.
