hot, steamy, large water tank, long cord
I had an old Sunbeam 3965 (1200 watts) that is still working but I didn't like it because I had to keep refilling the water tank and it didn't get hot enough to easily iron out wrinkles. On the plus size, it was very light. After reading reviews on several iron models, I finally settled on this Sunbeam (GCSBCS-200) steam iron. It has higher wattage - 1500W. Really hot. I never got burned when I accidentally touched my old Sunbeam iron. With the GCSBCS-200, less than a second of my skin coming in contact with the hot plate is enough to burn my skin. I already have two burn marks/scars.The fact that I already got burned twice is more a result of my ironing set up which doesn’t jibe well with this bulky/tall iron and my height. I use a tabletop ironing board on my dining table with the iron usually resting on its heel on the table in between ironing clothing. This makes the board height taller than it would be if I were using a regular ironing board. The iron is also tall when resting on its heel so when I reach for stuff behind it, I have to be really careful that my arm doesn’t accidentally come in contact with the sole plate. This wouldn’t be a problem if I were using a regular ironing board or if I’m a tall gal. Additionally, when you’re using a regular ironing board, you’re not usually reaching for something behind the iron and at the same height as the iron.I should get a non-tabletop ironing board – a compact version (with adjustable height) to fit in my tiny condo. That would also solve my problem with the heaviness of this iron. When this iron is filled with water to the max line – it weighs 52.27 oz. I wash clothes in bulk and iron in bulk, spending ~3 hours or more ironing. My arm gets pretty tired having to lift this iron, flick my wrist to rest the iron on its heel, reposition clothing, flick wrist to pick iron up, swish iron on clothing, do this over and over again throughout my 3h+ ironing session. Having the ironing board and iron too high makes wielding the heavy iron tedious (lifting above elbow height).I do love the hotness though. It makes for quicker ironing of cotton and linen. It does seem to put out a lot more steam than my old Sunbeam. With my old Sunbeam, I have to keep pressing the steam shot button while steam ironing. With the GCSBCS-200, just steam ironing (without steam shots) accomplishes the job.One of the features that made me pick this model is the larger water tank. My old Sunbeam only held 6 oz of water but the GCSBCS-200 tank holds 10.42 oz of water (to the max fill line). However, the color of the plastic tank is dark which makes it harder to see the water level. Some people have a problem with filling the water tank. I use the cup that came with my fabric steamer. It has a pouring spout which makes pouring water through the small water fill hole easeir. The cord is long (10’), long enough to plug into my wall outlet and reach the dining table. It has a dial fabric selector. I much prefer a sliding fabric selector – easier to move than a dial. The sole plate is stainless steel. I love the fact that there's no nonstick coating that's going to wear off over time. Even without a nonstick coating though, the stainless steel sole plate glides very smoothly. Although the sole plate is wide, it has a pointy tip that makes ironing narrow areas and around buttons easy.I hate the location of the steam shot button. It’s on top of the handle. Ideally, I should be holding the iron with my 4 fingers under the handle and my thumb always on top of the handle. However, the heaviness of the iron makes it much more comfortable for me to hold the handle with all my fingers under the handle. So, when I need a steam shot, I have to keep readjusting my hand/finger position so my thumb can push the steam shot button. That button is much much harder to press than it is on my old Sunbeam iron. I would have preferred a button that has little to no resistance when pushing or have the steam shot button under the handle – much more practical since my fingers are already under the handle. I wouldn’t have to pause and move my fingers to do steam shots. It’s the spray mist button that’s under the handle. This button is very easy to press. No resistance at all. I wish that button is the steam shot button instead. But, I suppose Sunbeam thinks that more people use spray mist rather than steam shot. I happen to be one of those people who like steam shots. This iron also features vertical steam shots. That’s not a feature I’m particularly interested in. It’s not very convenient. You have to make sure that the sole plate is far away enough from the fabric – you only want steam, not a hot dry plate, to touch your clothing. If I’m steaming any clothing, it’s because it’s dry heat sensitive. I wouldn’t want a hot iron plate anywhere near that even if it’s just a centimeter away. I much prefer using my separate fabric steamer. Using the GCSBCS-200 for vertical fabric steaming for more than a few minutes is going to be a workout for my arm and thumb. I’ll have to keep holding 52+ oz of weight up while repeatedly pressing the stiff steam shot button with my thumb. How is that practical? That would only make sense if I have an emergency and need to steam a few areas on a piece of clothing. To use this iron for regular vertical steam ironing would be really a pain. All in all, considering the things I like and don’t like about this iron, I still think it was a good purchase. That just shows how important heat (1500W), lots of steam, long cord and a large water tank are to me.Photos – Sunbeam 3965 (left) and GCSBCS-200 (right)

Stopped working
I ordered this iron in 2019 and it’s been great! A retractable cord like my previous Sunbeam iron had would have been nice. Just the other day this iron stopped working and I had to buy a new iron. Don’t expect to be using these irons for 10-20 years like the old Sunbeams. I found they last an average of 2-4 years.

The best for the price
I love it. Will always use this brand. It is my second one. Works as stated and super efficient. No more German brand irons.

Great little iron
Upon arrival packaging was nice and secure. The first about 8 times of using it, it did have a smell. Wasnt to terrible but did have a bad smell. I have been using it for a while now with no complaints. Its a great iron. I cant say how the steam part works because I do not fill it with water. I use a spray bottle and just spray my fabric as to extend the life of the iron. I am a quilter so it does get used quiet abit and enjoy using this iron. Overall I would recommend this iron to others.

Awesome but irons gon' iron
Our old iron was old and inefficient so we decided to search for a new one only to stumble across this Sunbeam iron.Pros:+Excellent price for quality+Easy to insert water (results may vary for others)+Efficient design+Quick at its' jobCons:-It leaked hot water on me once although I still do not know how (and yes, the water reservoir was fully secured when this happened)I was quite confident with the previous reviews that this wouldn't happen and yet it did to me. I'm always cautious when it comes to irons in this aspect as the previous one did it quite often but unfortunately it caught me off guard and burnt me a bit. After trying to figure out where exactly it came from I'm disappointed to say I have no idea how but that was the only instance since owning it (3 months or so). I'd highly recommend this iron!

No drip, easy set iron a hit with me
I wanted an iron that wouldn't drip on what I was ironing and had clearly visible heat settings. I would have liked a retractable cord as well. This iron continually surprises me with features I didn't even ask for but am delighted with, such as controlled steam intensity. It does not drip on my clothes as so many other irons have done, my number 1 requirement. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see the heat setting because they are under the handle, but they are big enough to stand out, so that I CAN see them with ease. The cord does not retract but instead is extra long which helps me with positioning the ironing board conveniently, whether in the living room, bedroom or the top of the dryer. I recommend this iron to anyone. It works well.

Easy to use, does what it says
~I like the pointed tip for corners and seams.~The various steam settings have worked well, and the 'no steam' setting does as well.~The iron turns off fairly quickly in between, but I only have to start ironing again for it to heat right back up.~It's not exactly lightweight. However, the weight has helped me when working on sewing projects and iron-on t-shirts.I have tried other irons from local shopping center that were terrible. I thought maybe they'd gone the way of sewing machines (cheap cost = cheap product), and thought I'd never find another sturdy, long-lasting iron. I love this iron. It's done everything I've asked of it for a couple years now. Except not break when my puppies manage to make it fall three feet to the floor while roughhousing. I'm working on a new quilt, so I've left it out every day. My fault, I guess. :/ Ordering a new one now.

I'm in love with my iron!
I do a lot of sewing, and depend on having an excellent iron close by. When my old iron gave up the ghost, I had to find something really wonderful and I wanted it to arrive the next day. I searched exhaustively through reviews and different bloggers' opinions etc. and finally found this one. The downside was that it showed I would have to wait a month or two for delivery, but I arranged to borrow my daughter's iron in the meantime (hers is virtually unused!) and patiently waited. The iron actually arrived about two weeks after my order, which was great. I love the extra long cord because of the way my room is set up, with a very large cutting/pressing table. The water tank is a good size and lasts for several hours of steamy pressing. It shuts off automatically (=goes to sleep) after about 15-20 minutes, which is ok, because it steams back to life very quickly when I give it a little nudge. It has a nice big pressing surface and it's weighty enough for pressing but not tiring to use. It's everything you'd want in an iron, in my opinion. I hope I can get 25 years out of it (my old one gave me that much!), but as long as it lasts a reasonable time, I would be open to purchasing another Sunbeam in the future.

Great Iron
Very happy with this iron. I just threw out my 13 year old Rowenta which leaked constantly from day one.I do a lot of sewing as a hobby and use an iron constantly and this Sunbeam works beautifully, no leaking!

Great Iron!
Probably one of the nicest irons I have owned and used. I am a seamstress and also use this for iron on vinyl. It gets very hot and I love the large base and the swivel cord.
