Fun build
Loved this kit, got great cuts of wood. Directions were lacking but the boat is of a simple design so the plans ended up being more of a reference. I went with a electric motor. Using a e3536 evo 1400 brushless motor paired with a 40amp ecs and 13g waterproof servo. Dry weight ended up 565 grams or 1.246 lb. Got the whole thing with a good 3s 2500 mAh battery just under two pounds. And battery options are good due to the size of the electronics compartment. I’m using a 3s 11.1 volt 2500 mAh lithium battery. This thing goes about 25mph with the 3s but be warned I would recommend a water cooled ecs. This swamp buggy handles well but at high speed it gets a little Squirrley. All In all. Had a blast with this kit.

Dumas makes cool stuff...
Excellent old school model airboat.Fun to build. As with anything wooden, do a good job sanding and prepping before applying your finish.Enjoy!

but I'm pretty sure that with these newer versions
Dumas has been around for a long time. I bought their Lil Swamp Buggy many years ago, built about 40% of it then sold the whole thing on E-Bay. I should qualify this by saying I've never run this boat, so I'm really only commenting on the materials, instructions etc. The die cuts were clean and proper. The instructions (at that time) we lacking just a bit, but I'm pretty sure that with these newer versions, the instructions are clearer. You will need to use a jig/clamps to make sure the whole business remains properly square all the way around. Also be aware, that you probably will need mini-servos for this one too. It will run via a small motor and you'll need a few bits and bobbles regarding the steerage hardware, etc. (but nothing scary). If you're patient and focused, I promise the mahogany will paint up nicely.

Great lil boat perfect for novice builders
I made mine electric, I also eliminated the need for a rudder, by using a vector thrust method, the whole assembly sweeps left to right . I just used scrap wood from the kit to make motor box & servo housing from plywood in kit , then I was able to sheet it with the scrap mahogany from kit so it matched the boat. Painted the bottom and clear coated the rest. I also applied some pinstripe tape before I clear coated. I will use this to rescue my fast electric boats that I seem to flip over often. I will just make a foam bumper that slips over the bow to protect both boats from getting damaged. Tons of room for battery choice to power boat & electronics. Also used a waterproof servo since it is somewhat exposed and will get a little moisture during its rescue missions. Total cost of boat complete under $100 . Not bad for a brushless boat .
