Self Tanning Lotion - Dark

I honestly didn't have a lot of faith in self tanners after hearing about inconsistent or blotchy patches and orange colored jobs, but this stuff is different. It's easy to apply cause it's tinted so you can tell where it's applied and it turned out great! By the next morning I had a deep natural looking tan that wasn't streaky or blotchy. It doesn't have any weird smells and works great on your face as well. It lasts several days and once it's fully developed (6-8 hours) it doesn't wash off. Lotion helps it to stay even and makes it last longer. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it works and will definitely be buying more. Easy 5 stars and glad it found me!

The Highlights: What Makes It Good Absolutely Zero Orange: The biggest win here is the color base. It develops into a rich, true brown bronze tint. It mimics a natural UV tan so well that nobody will know it came out of an 8 oz bottle. ​Instant Guide Color: The lotion pumps out as a very dark cream. Don't let that scare you, this built-in color guide lets you see exactly where you are applying it, making it incredibly easy to avoid streaks or missed spots. ​It dries in about 20 minutes (feeling more like a rich moisturizer than a sticky residue.) Truly Unisex: There are no intense floral perfumes, making it a great pick for both men and women. When I first started self tanning over a decade ago, this was the first product I ever used. It was an immediate favorite back then and it remains a favorite today, which is really saying something because I've tried just about ever self tanner under the sun. The product smells amazing—think classic Jergens cherry almond hand cream nostalgia. It glides on smoothly, blends seamlessly, and I've never had any issues with streaking. But what really sets this product apart for me? It's not ORANGE. I naturally have more of a yellow-ish skin tone, and I find that a lot of olive based tanners still leave me looking Oompa Loompa-esque. Not this one. It gives me a rich, natural-looking tan that actually compliments my skin tone. Oh, and it LASTS! This lasts on my skin for about a week and fades gradually over time. I don't find that it gets patchy or looks wonky as it fades. I tend to apply this two nights in a row to get a deeper tan, and then I'll used a gradual tanning lotion to maintain the intensity of the tan throughout the week. 10/10 LOVE this product! However, I do have one downside to this specific order—the pump that came with the product didn't fit the bottle. It was too large to screw on and the pump itself couldn't function properly. I ended up having to pour the product out in globs, which made things a bit messy. It didn't take away from how much I love the actual product, though. Just something to be aware of. Despite that, this tanner remains unmatched in my book and I'm honestly not sure why more people don't talk about it.

The BEST self tanning lotion I have used in the past 10+ years. It does not leaves strikes, is easy to apply evenly and without making a big mess, and the best part is the color is a beautiful olive/ tan tint (Not orange at all) and dries so fast! I use to go tanning in my 20's and my skin is paying for it in my 30's so I have stopped but didn't want to go back to my pale self come summertime. Great self tanner! I have used many different products and always turn out with an orange tint; this one actually looks tan! I’m very pale and this gave me a nice shade of tan. It’s not greasy and applies easily!

I don't have much luck with sunless tanners. I'm very pale and I don't like the health risks associate with tanning in the sun. I've tried many popular drugstore brands I wouldn't go back too. I've tried Jergens Natural Glow, which was my favorite of the low budget variety. It gave nice gradual color but the smell disgusts me so much that I never end up using it for very long. I read glowing reviews about Sun Labs, so I decided to take the hit on my wallet it and give it a try. Keep in mind I only bought a full size version of this product, and not the accompanying scrubs, lotions, etc. COLOR: The color is fantastic and gives you a very realistic tan, even if you're starting off as pale as I am. It's the most realistic "quick" tanner I've used, Jergens being the most realistic gradual tanner. The color seems to have an olive undertone instead of orange, ensuring more natural looking bronze skin. APPLICATION: The lotion is darkly tinted so you see exactly how it's applying. Take note that if it looks uneven during this time you had better fix it or else it will end up looking just as bad once it sets. I still recommend using a bit of white lotion mixed in a drop of this stuff for your rough spots like knees and feet, or else it may end up soaking too much color as with most tanning lotions. A note on the dark tint: the tint is there to help you apply, and serve as a visual. It also helps you look much darker. Once you take your first shower after using the product, you will appear much lighter because the tint will wash away. So don't be afraid if the water turns dark brown and you look much lighter after stepping out. Personally I like washing off the dark tint as soon as possible. LONGEVITY: If you make sure to exfoliate properly before using, it will last a few days. To avoid looking splotchy and to make sure it comes off evenly, you have to continue exfoliating well every day. While this means it wont' last too long, at least it doesn't fade unevenly. SMELL: The main reason I stop using self tanners is because of the bad smell all tanning chemicals have. There seems to be no way around this. Sun Labs has a lovely smell when first applying, smells like cherry, but after an hour or so the perfume fades and the typical self-tanning smell arrives. It's much more subtle than any other tanner I've tried, which is a huge plus. However, it's still there. I have sensitive smell and I get very self-conscious when I smell it and usually stop using the tanner for a while. It's even worse when I go to the gym. A lot of people have had good luck with the smell, but there is a risk it won't work well for you. If this is a determining factor, I suggest trying a sample and going from there. I can only use this product every once in a while before the smell defeats me and I decide being pale for the summer is better than smelling weird. OVERALL: Three stars for being one of the best options out there right now. Great application and color. Average longevity. Smell is the most subtle from what I've used, but is still there and bothers me enough to be turned off from using it after a while. If you're desperate for something that looks natural and is easy to use, give this a shot! Just beware if you're sensitive to smells.

I love this stuff. Best drugstore brand i've personally found is Loreal Sublime Bronze but if you're willing to spend a little more, I would HIGHLY recommend this stuff. It's the only one that hasn't turned me Oompa Loompa orange or turned me a sickly yellow color like my liver is failing. I am EXTREMELY pale, i'm talkin color of a sheet of paper, glow-in-the-dark pale. This isn't too dark on me, so I guarantee it won't be too dark for you. Don't be scared of the "Ultra Dark" description. The lotion comes out as a chocolate brown color. This is simply to help make application easier. You can see where it's going so you don't miss any spots. Super helpful, especially if you're new to sunless tanners. It has a light cherry almond smell that fades and does have that typical sunless tanner smell, but it's not overbearing and goes away after you shower (you're gonna have that smell no matter what sunless tanning method you use because that is the smell of the chemical used in these to turn your skin a color; its unavoidable). It will slightly stain clothes/sheets until you shower off the color guide. This will come out in the wash and isn't permanant. Just wear something you don't care about until you take a shower and if you apply it immediately before you go out, don't wear a light color and make sure rain isn't in the forecast because the color guide will run off of you and cause streaks. The color you are as the "tan" develops is going to be darker than the final result. If you feel you're too dark, just wait, it'll be lighter after your shower. If you like the color, you'll have to do a few more applications until it's the color you will be post-shower. Here's some tips for first time sunless tanners: 1. Exfoliate super well before your first application to get off all dead skin and make your skin smooth for an even application. 2. Work quickly and on one section of your body at a time. Make sure you rub in very well. 3. Coat rough areas (tops of feet/ankles, wrists, knees, elbows, wrists, and knuckles) with a light lotion or body oil and let sink in for a few mins before you start. This will help from too much color depositiong in these areas. 4. Pick yourself up a box of disposable gloves at the store. This will keep your palms from getting dyed which WILL happen if they're not used and good luck trying to get that off. The palms will soak up the color like no other area. 5. Try not to exfoliate too much after your first application because you will scrub off the top layer of skin which is the layer the tanner dyes, so you'll essentially scrub off your work. 6. Apply a light lotion everyday to help maintain the "tan," but make sure your lotion doesn't have AHA's in it that will exfoliate your skin and take the color away. I do 3 consecutive applications to get my desired color and then just reapply as needed after that. When I start to notice uneven patches, I completely scrub everything off and start over to avoid uneven color. It sounds like alot of work but it really doesn't take much more time than putting on regular body lotion after you get the hang of it and it saves your skin from looking like a leather handbag somewhere down the line.

This really is the only tanning lotion I would ever use and ever recommend! I do mix mine with body lotion to have it last longer in gradual shades, and its beautiful. I do wish the price would be more genuine, as it is cheaper on the actual website. And really dissappointed as the last 2 times I tried ordering it here it was out of stock and I had to be refunded. I’m an amazon girl, so don’t enjoy ordering off of other websites. But please, if you’re out of stock, update your status!

Best self tanner on the market. No strong smell or the “self tan” smell best natural color and dark. I’m pale & blonde and people always compliment me on color. They think it’s a natural tan Lol. The tint does run in the water though but I don’t swim! And it’s easy to re apply- use gloves and it’s perfect.
