Etouffée, Mon Amour: The Great Restaurants of New Orleans (Restaurant Cookbooks)

I’m trying to master the recipes of the best New Orleans restaurants

I ordered this book to give as a gift. I ordered "new" but the product did not appear to be new. The cover was tattered.

I would love to review this book but it is still on back order for over a month. I work for a hospital and we give our medical staff (over 400 physicians) a birthday gift every year. This year we selected this book and began ordering on December 13th for the January birthdays. To this date, we have only received 5 books. During 2011, we plan to order more than 400 books totaling over $10,000. When I contacted Amazon via chat, I was told that the book is not available. I find it disturbing that Amazon is not interested in calling their distributors to find out when the books will be available. The chat representative said she would personally follow up on this order but I have not heard from her as of yet. Meanwhile, our January physicians' birthdays are passing without receipt of a gift so we will have to go in another direction.

A beautiful and interesting book.

Made my mouth water for the great food of New Orleans. They don't make restaurants like this anymore. Should include Eleven Seventy Nine.

Good news, bad news. The good news is that this book is an absolute jewel for those who know and really love New Orleans and its restaurants. The bad news is once you pick it up you cannot put it down and you may end up rearranging your life to immediately go to New Orleans and visit the featured restaurants. The photography is superb and the write ups accompanying the pictures are as great as the pictures. I lived in the French Quarter for some ten years prior to Katrina and know something about the restaurants featured in the book. The author's depictions are right on. This book would be an outstanding coffee table book gift for someone who, " Knows what it means to miss New Orleans".

Not only is the photography really nice, but the photos also evoke a sense of romanticism. After looking at all of the photos (several times), I wanted to rush down to New Orleans and visit all of the restaurants.
