Volume One. EU-only two CD set that chronicles the birth of Country Rock. In 1966, rock groups began turning away from the self-indulgence of early psychedelia to the timeless values embodied in country music, but they brought a counter-culture sensibility to it. It was a trend that began slowly in 1966, picked up steam in '67 when Bob Dylan released his groundbreaking John Wesley Harding album and the Band's first LP appeared, and became a phenomenon in 1968 when the Byrds released Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and Dillard & Clark's first album appeared. Heritage acts like the Everly Brothers and Rick Nelson came early to the party. And then, in 1969, the Flying Burrito Brothers' first LP appeared, Dylan released 'Nashville Skyline,' and the Band's epochal second LP appeared. Suddenly, Country Rock was a phrase on everyone's lips.

Very informative well put together booklets like you would expect from Bear Family
I have volumes 3 thru 7 and waiting on 1 and 2 because they haven't been in stock for months in Bay Area . Hit and miss musically!! Very informative well put together booklets like you would expect from Bear Family. Lots of great songs I already loved by Doug Sahm, the Byrds, Burrito Brothers, New Riders,JJ Cale , etc. Plus, a number of songs I now can't imagine living without(Gene Clark "Life's Greatest Fool", "Delaney & Bonnie "Living On The Open Road",Delbert & Glen "California Livin'",etc., but lots of lame ones too. Overall I like it.

Please cancel my return. I am keeping the CD.
The problem of skipping was due to my cd player. NOT the CD. I love it. I want the whole set. How many are in the whole set and how much. I now only have VOL. 1.

Die Entstehung des Country Rock ... Volume 1 // 1966-1968 ...
It was something in the air, almost like the earth was passing through a cloud. I think this music was the direct result of psychedelia, the chaotic noisiness of it. People wanted to return to the simplicity that country music represented. Three-chord songs, melodies, and stories."
The Byrds, Beau Brummels, Dylan, Gene Clark, Kris Kristofferson, Everly Brothers, The Band, Ry Cooder, Mickey Newbury etc.
