Excellent product, slight difficulty in aligning screws

When I ordered my first Keyless Entry Code it was used, so I returned the package and was immediately sent out a replacement on the next business day. I didn’t do the set up the same day until yesterday, which was 2 to 3 days later, however, the key knob kept turning with the key and would did not unlock or lock , and I followed the example to a T and it still did not work. I’ve then proceeded to do a second return, and then I got a message that says “ How can we make this right,” so there were options recommended to contact support, watch a video, and etc) so I chose to watch the video. I decided to uninstall and start over by following the video and it turned out that I indeed had missed a step. After the set-up was completed, and I created my own personal Keyless Entry Code the door would not lock after entering the code, but the code was working. To my surprise, it turned out that when the door tried to lock after entering the code, the lock was hidden against the plate on the side of the door post when you lock your door so now I have to get someone to come in to fix that issue, but other than that if you follow the video, everything will work out fine. I am 100% satisfied with the results that I took the time to watch the video carefully to complete the installation. I’m glad that I did not give up and I kept trying and it was worth the trouble. 👍🏾👍🏾 that Plate was the problem and this was caused after I had my front door replaced years ago with a new door, so the issue was on my end. However, my experience was still amazing to me because I found out what the exact problem was , it was worth watching the video examining on my end to figure out what the exact issue was and why the code did not work after I said the code to lock the door. Try resetting the code again and come to realize and after watching the video a few times more , once you enter your four digit pin number that you create for yourself then you have to turn the knob/the key knob after intern your code to lock the door and then you repeat the same steps when unlocking the door. We bought this lock so if emergency personnel need access to the house, we can relay a code to them without having to be physically present. The lock is sturdy and it's bright brass finish matched our existing hardware. The code setting process was clearly explained in the instruction sheet and was easily completed.

Really great product with a solid feel and a high-quality finish. I couldn't install it, however, since it smacked against my storm door handle, preventing the door from closing.

I have used many other electrical locks, August, Yale, Aqara, you name them. Schlage is the best among them. The sturdiness is much better than other brands, it matters a lot if security is important to you (like for your front door). You will sacrifice some nice-to-have-but-rarely-used “smart features” for a way better battery life (I just need to replace one 9V battery every 9-10 months now, comparing to 4 AA batteries every 3 months. Highly recommended.

Purchased August 2024 due to prior lock (came with house) failing to unlock when turned (outside turning point just spins), seriously problem since it results in being locked out of your home. 21 months into owning this lock it has started failing in exactly the same way. Garbage in garbage out - I will be replacing this with a more expensive brand.

Not having to fumble for keys every time you want to unlock a door is a real time-saver. The more you go in and out, the more valuable this time-savings will be to you. You can activate a backlight when using at night, and (unless you want to and change a setting) you don't need to enter a code to lock the deadbolt from the outside. Another big advantage of a digital lock is that it can't be bumped or picked. Because of the way that the backup key has to operate, it seems very bump and pick resistant. If you don't want that vulnerability, have your locksmith modify a key so that it can go in but not come out, then cut off the head of the key. Once inserted and pushed into the backup key lock, you now have a burglar-proof digital-only deadbolt. Don't do this if this is your only entrance! Even though you are given ample low battery warning, you don't want a dead battery to leave you locked out. Especially since this is a pretty tough deadbolt. One important hint: don't use a lithium battery - only use alkaline batteries. With alkaline batteries, you have a reasonably long warning period when the battery is running low. With a lithium battery, you will have a very short time between when you are first warned of a low battery and when it will stop working. Similar problems exist if you are using a rechargeable battery. You can easily add and delete access codes for when you have guests or want to give temporary access to someone. And if you are going away for vacation, you can disable all entry codes, requiring the 6 digit master code as well as a 4 digit entry code to get it. This makes it practically impossible for someone, even given a long time, to open the deadbolt. I've had another of these deadbolts for several years, and even though I haven't changed the entry code, the buttons still are not showing any wear that would give away what digits are in the code. It has been 100% reliable in all weather conditions. The only downside is that you are limited to 4 digit entry codes. Since the unit locks up for a while after too many wrong codes, this isn't much of a problem, since guessing the code will take an exorbitant amount of time. If you are worried and don't mind a bit of overkill, you can get a matching digital doorknob Schlage Keypad Entry Lock , doubling the number of digits needed to open the door.

We have had our lock since mid July, so approximately 2 1/2 months now, and we absolutely love it. I thought that I wouldn't be able to install it without hiring someone more knowledgeable than me, but after reading through the installation guide, we were able to figure it out. It was surprisingly easy. We ended up programming several codes for hypothetical situations (what if my mom needs to drop something off but I don't want her to have our code so we can delete hers afterwards??) and that was also pretty easy. I love that you can program lots of codes into the lock - we tried to program different codes that would end up utilizing all of the different numbers to help with any wearing of the number pads. But really, after using the lock for more than two months, I can't even see fingerprints on any of the number pads. There are Schlage locks that will lock the door automatically when you press a "lock" button but this is not one of those. You actually need to turn the deadbolt after pushing the Schlage button to lock the door. I like this feature because we didn't have to fiddle with the lock too much during installation to make sure that it was lined up perfectly with the hole in the door jam. Yes, I need to pull my handle a little bit in order to make sure that the lock actually locks but I also know for sure that my door is locked. Also, I feel like manually locking the door will probably help the battery last longer since it isn't using energy turning the lock mechanism itself. Another thing that I like so much is when I arrive home late at night and my porch light isn't on, I just push the Schlage button and all of the numbers light up blue so I can easily unlock my door. I really recommend this lock to anyone looking to get rid of a house key.

Purchased this Schlage unit to replace an older electronic deadbolt that had become really difficult to operate. I chose this particular one after much research as there are so many options on the market. I needed something that was reliable and easy to use without being overly expensive. This deadbolt was super easy to install. Directions were clear and it was easy to program. I think the whole process only took 20 minutes. It works great! I especially like that you have to actually turn a lever to ensure the unit is locked or unlocked. We have another different brand on the garage that uses a motor to open and close the deadbolt, and it often struggles - especially when it's really cold. this one is not problem. So smooth! I'd definitely buy this product again.
