Dash charges – until it doesn’t :(
Update (2/26/19)When using the included cable with the charger the phone will complete a Dash charge cycle. All of my observations in the original review were using the genuine OnePlus cable with this charger – which is troubling. As I indicated in the original review, when the charger is coupled with an OEM cable, it charges at a rate of about 110% per hour. This turns out to be slightly faster than a genuine Dash charger. This suggests that the charger is incapable or ignoring the phone’s request to properly adjust for any negotiated voltage drop that the cable introduces. In other words, it looks like the charger is blindly outputting a fixed voltage that likely compensates for the thinner cable that’s included, therefore running a little “hotter” with a larger gauged OEM cable. This also suggests that the charger does not contain any logic to authenticate or communicate with the Dash protocol as implemented on the phone, or the IC that’s included in the A end of a genuine Dash cable.I also tested the included cable with a genuine OEM Dash charger. While the Dash indicator was enabled (which is simply enabled by using the fifth pin in the USB 3.0 connector), the cable did not exceed a charge rate above 30% per hour. So it seems that the cable indeed does not contain the IC that’s used to authenticate and regulate true Dash charging.Given the higher amperage output and coordinated voltage control that’s required for safe Dash charging, I’m getting the impression that *none* of these aftermarket chargers are up for the task – I’m also left wondering whether this arrangement could potentially damage the phone. So this charger is still going back…Original review (2/21/19)tl;dr- The charger seems to aggregate all modern charging standards – great idea in theory- It Dash charges, until the device attempts to negotiate a slower top-off rate once the phone reaches 75-80%, then it fails- When Dash charging for a length of time, this thing gets unbelievably HOT- Sadly, I’m returning thisWhen I purchased my OnePlus 6T, I was disappointed that the Dash car charger only had one port. When I travel, I like having a car charger that allows me to charge something else concurrently (a travel companion’s phone, a tablet, whatever).I was delighted to find this charger – it had two ports, and the high powered port supported multiple output standards, including OnePlus’s Dash. I figured this might be a winner, but I’m always leery when it comes to third party charging accessories. When the charger arrived, I immediately put it to the test. I plugged in my 6T and was thrilled to see the fast charge lightning bolt icon appear immediately. I then plugged in a Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 phone, and was equally surprised to see the phone immediately recognize the QC capability. In short, this thing checked all the boxes: multiple ports with fast charging across devices! In my gadget bag it went, in preparation for a road trip (where I like to minimize the amount of electronic junk that I have in tow.)On the start of my first multi-hour road trip with the charger, I plugged my 6T in – it was approximately at 50%. I stream music and run Waze concurrently, so the phone is always awake with the screen on. The charger initially did not disappoint. It charged my 6T at a rate of approximately 110% per hour (about what the OEM wall and car charger will do). Once my 6T reached about 76%, that’s where things went south. With the OEM chargers, the phone will step back its charge rate to approximately 30-50% per hour until it reaches 100%. With this charger, the Dash lightning bolt stayed on the display, however, the battery level *dropped* at a rate of about 18% per hour – which is the same rate of discharge when the phone is not plugged in at all. Unplugging and plugging the cable in would cause the phone to renegotiate and start charging again, until it hit that 75-80% range, where it would once again stop. Amusingly, I plugged the Dash cable into the secondary port on the charger, which allowed the phone to trickle charge up to 100%. Clearly that’s not a workable solution.Which brings up another point… When I unplugged the cable I discovered that this charger gets incredibly hot while Dash charging. It’s so hot that it nearly cannot be physically handled safely. At first I thought that perhaps the charging capability was being thwarted by some sort of thermal protection in the charger. With my phone at about 70% and the charger being cool, I tried charging with the fast charging port again. No go -- same result. Once the phone got beyond 76%, it simply stops charging and starts discharging as if it’s not plugged in at all.On a separate note, the included cable looks like it fell straight out of a OnePlus box. It had the same cable clips and plastic packaging ring that you’d get with a OP cable. Even the plastic A end of the cable is stamped with the Dash logo. However, a few things seem to give it away as a knockoff. First the cable itself seems to be a slightly narrower gauge than a real OP cable, even though OP cables appear to vary slightly in thickness from one another, this is the thinnest of any I have handled. Second, the white ends have some plastic injection molding nubs on them, which I have not seen on a real OP cable before. Finally, the C end (phone end) of the cable connector is folded and stamped, not an extruded single piece of metal. This is usually a giveaway signature of a cheap cable (search for ‘USB deep-draw extrusion’ for more info). Granted, this product hasn’t made any claim with respect to the cable; however the inclusion of something that appears to be a knockoff is suspect in my book.I did not get the opportunity to try QuickCharge 3.0 for a full charge cycle, so I don’t know if it suffers from the same issues as the Dash charging. Regardless, unfortunately, this item is going back :( My search for a multi-port Dash compatible charger will continue…

It actually works!
I had purchased other products that say "Dash" charging capable for your car, well of the 3 I have purchased this one actually works and I have a fast charge for other phones as well on this.So far I have only used this for long period driving (over 3 hours) around 6 times, and each case when the phone completes charging the charger then goes into standard charge mode and trickle charges. This is great!I am happy so far and as long as this device does not fail soon I will see it having 5 stars ( I never give five stars)The item is made of aluminum with a plastic top, it seems that this will not fail as others do when in a car for lengths of time and heat up and become brittle.I would expect that the housing was designed also this way to dissipate the hit that is produced by the charger itself as it it does become warm to the touch.I am happy that I found this and would recommend this to other users that one oneplus phones!

it does what it says but....
i replaced it from a quick charge 3. figuring it would be faster. but it wasn't, its the same speed as the qc 3. and at 90% charge, it stopped charging and in one case went backwards on one charge. even though the phone said it was charging it wasn't. so i don't know what the deal was with that. the second time it seemed to charge it fully, so i don't know what was going on there.also there is a very bright light inside, to the point that i need to fill that hole where the other usb isn't plugged in, and if i recall right, its very bright. totally not needed.

Does what it says. Enaes
update****had for nearly a year, use everyday. still great. best value everI'm sure the other reviewers are correct in the sense that this charger isn't using the standard method of commincation to the whatever "fast" protocol your device is using. Personally, I could care less....... This enable QC3.0 on my v20 and "dash" charges wifes new 6t, is it gpong to possibly shorten the life of our LiPo's, again I dont care. Phone batteries take 20 minutes to replace and are very affordable, well worth it to have full charge in the quick drive to work.

EXCELLENT/BEST Charger EVER!!! :D
ALL of my friends/family that ride with me can charge there phones pretty much instantly with this charger. It supports all of the latest quick charge technologies from the various phone makers, and it just works. It is made of a durable metal material and it feels solid. The head is a nice glossy plastic with a "soft" white light ring around it that glows at night, making it easy to find the charger in low light conditions. (Its minimal, and non distracting)I liked it so much, I bought TWO! :D

Works good but fast connector is finiky
This charger is great when it actually works. I've used it for about a month and for some reason the quick charger only works if I bend the cord just right. I've tried many cords, but it's the actually connector that's bad. Not sure of the quality assurance but if it wasn't for that this charger would be perfect. it is compatible with my one+ 7T pro and chargers fast.. when it's working

Works great, but gets HOT!
Charges our Oneplus 7T and 7Pro phones at 4A, which is syill warp charge speed(although not as fast as the 6A from the OEM charger). Does a great job. My only concern is how hot the adapter gets during Warp charging; it gets too hot to touch after 10 minutes or so. But, it does work well.

Dash charge!
Was skeptical, but Dash charge works! Oneplus 6t charges quickly. Good quality. So far so good.
