Cardinal Gates 21.75" Extension for Stairway Special Gate and Auto Lock Gate, White

We have one at the top of our stairs and another one (with the extension piece) on our front porch. These are very high quality gates and I would recommend them to anyone looking to block access for children or pets. They feel very secure and I have no worries about my daughter trying to climb on it or pull it. The one we have outside did develop some rust on the rod but that is to be expected as I do not believe it was designed for outdoor use.

This worked great for where I was putting my gate. It allowed me to secure it to a wall on one side, and to the newel post on the other. I had to get this clamp, and the other square clamp that they have, because the top of the gate would be secure to the part of the newel post that was a block, and this clamp would be used to secure around the middle of the gate, which was the round part of the newel post. It works perfect!! It allowed me to put the gate where the living room separates the entire entry area where the stairs are, meaning I could just buy this one gate and extension, rather then buy two or three separate gates, saving me a little cash!

The gates are grrat and heavy duty; they're used on the porch to gate off pathways from dog. The locks (for outside use) are terrible and will rusy, become loose, or ben and break.

We have a 63 inch wide stairway, after doing a lot of research, there are limited options out there. The Cardinal Gate with extension has exceeded our expectations. Our 2 year old hasn't figured out the locking mechanism yet. You can't unlock it with one hand, if you have one arm full, but that's my only minor issue.

Extension fits well, and made it so we could fit a gate to a wide opening between our living and dining room. However, it does make the gate very heavy, and therefore it doesn't sit completely level and seems to be pulling at the wall pretty badly. The wall seems to have a metal coating, which made it impossible for us to use wall anchors, which may have helped with this problem.

The gate was exactly as it was described. I read the reviews to make my decision and I can honestly say that this is the best gate out there for the money.

I purchased this along with the Stairway Special Gate. The extension installs quickly, easily and securely to the main gate piece. This solution allowed me to gate off an opening 60 inches wide at an angle. I am very pleased with this product.
