WWE: The Phenomenal One (Volume 6)
K**I
Phenomenal
I love this volume. Yes I am a huge AJ Styles fan, do I might be a bit biased. Great story and artwork. In the comic universe WWE is real and the so are the characters. An excellent mix of life in and out of the ring. Just enough reality mixed wit story. The first chapter is AJ Styles the talented young wrestler, coming into wrestling and making a name for himself. Almost hitting the big time to have the rug pulled out, then going back to work and coming into the WWE on his own terms. The reality behind this story is AJ was super talented, but did not fit into the slower WWE/WWF style. However his years on the indies and TNA his promo, and ring psychology improved to the same level as his in ring work. I was over the moon when he came into the WWE as AJ Styles and not a WWE invented character.Chapter 2 is based around his feud with John Cena. Great stuff.Chapter 3 is AJ winning the Smackdown championship and facing the Beast incarnate Brock Lesnar. A lesson on dealing with bullies and earning respect.Chapter 4 is his feud and twisted "friendship" with Shinsuke the King of Strong Style.Chapter 5 is his feud with Samoa Joe. This is person!! For someone who has been watching these to go at it since their days at ROH this is the perfect main event for the comic to finish on.One of the things that made this volume even better for me is better a lot more of the in ring fights/wrestling and signature moves are shown. I have never seen a bad AJ Styles match. This translates perfectly into the WWE comic universe as well.
