Better than average
This dog house took about 45 minutes to lay out and put together. Its tongue and groove design snaps together easily. The material is kind of thin but seems much more durable than the wood dog house options available at our local retailers and it is easier to clean. It also provides much more protection from the weather than the majority of the plastic options.. While I would have preferred a top that could be easily opened for cleaning, the large doorway and corner drain holes make it do-able, along with the raised design which allows water to drain out. We added a thick rubber mat cut to size for comfort and the vinyl door flaps to maximize protection from the elements. The predrilled holes on the inside of the door frame were very convenient for this. While the size of this dog house is very spacious for the 40 lb beagle, it is cramped for the just over 100 lb German Shepherd. In my opinion, the measurements of this dog house are best suited for a dog up to 70 lbs. While it is described as XL, it will not fit your XL breed dogs so pay attention to those measurements. Overall, I found the $200 price point to be reasonable for the quality of its design, construction, materials and size.

The design is good enough.
Ordered house. Received it early and began the frustrating effort of trying to put together. The design is good enough ...on paper but the real problem is the structural strength of the individual boards. In order to attach everything correctly u have to make sure everything is EXACTLY true! Which is of course in the real world NOT the case. The vertical supports have grooved sections that is supposed to fit the side boards. The tolerances are too tight and these supports are extruded plastic so are inherently not exact. U can make the boards fit but that requires u to apply pressure against the boards and they will break. The biggest issue of course is that there is NO one to speak to about it. Nothing but an email customer service that promised contact in one working day. Don't hold your breath! It comes with warranty as well and very probably needs one but again no person to speak to no number to call nothing! Oh and for those of you who may have seen that there are YouTube vids to show how EASY assembly can be u won't find it on any of the larger dog houses only the smaller ones that have completely different design. Run do not walk from the jumbo rustic ecoflex disaster!

Excellent dog house
Reasonable price, fast shipping. High quality materials. We were most impressed with the packaging and the fact they numbered the pieces. No tools required. Simple clear directions (two person assembly is best). Dimensions we're accurate. We bought it for our 87# Pyrenees/Dogo cross and she fits nicely and house is very sturdy.

Nice dog house, poor shipping
The dog house was nice and easy enough to put together. No tools necessary to assemble if you follow the directions. Be cautious of the shipping! The house came in two boxes and delivered separately. First box with instruction and supports arrived first with no problems. Second box with base and siding arrived second with damage. Boards with indentations, scratches, and the top of the doorway had a small part broken off. It was obvious UPS had dropped the box and had to repackage it, they even left the foot prints on the boards they walked on during the repack...nice. Most of the damage was to either an inside area or was hidden when installed, so I didn't request replacements. Overall, the house gets 4 stars - 1 for shipping UPS.

Bad Directions but Great House
After searching everywhere for a large dog house that I could use for my sulcata tortoises, I decided to go with this one. I chose it based on the size, because my boys are still growing, and I needed it tall enough to hang a heater. The house arrived in two boxes and the first thing I noticed is that the directions weren't going to be much help. I went ahead and spread everything out in my living room to get an idea of how it would go together, and after a lot of staring at the directions, I finally noticed that all of the flat parts have tiny numbers on them. I got all the pieces together to create the base, paying particular attention to which corner supports were for the front and which for the back, then I hauled everything outside to begin building. Once I got over the frustrating directions and got the base together, the rest was pretty easy. It goes together like a log cabin with alternating pieces on the side, side, front, back. Then the next row, side, side, front, back. Do this all the way around and eventually you get to the top. Unfortunately, once I did get to the top I realized that when I moved outside, I switched my corner supports so I had built the whole thing backwards. I was ready to kick it to pieces, but then I decided to lay it on its back to see if it would stay together. It did, and I was able to slide off the four corner supports then neatly slide them back on in the correct order. After that, I stood it up put in the thumb screws. Everything was very solidly put together. I reinstalled the floor which had fallen out when I was flipping it this way and that way, then added the roof. Since this was for 3-20 pound tortoises, the bottom lip at the entrance was too high so I built them some steps out of bricks and I screwed a cover over the top part of the door, then hung a heavy cloth over the bottom half that they can push aside to get in and out. I added the hanging heater lamp and that was it. I have two, 150 watt ceramic heat emitters but only one is turned on and the house stays nice and warm. So far it has been down to 41 here and it was still warm inside. I'm happy with my purchase and I think a dog would actually enjoy the house. I would definitely get a flap for the dog, too.
