Fabulous Knitting for Fans of Harry Potter
I am utterly "charmed" by this beautiful book of knitting designs for fans of Harry Potter . . . and friends. There are plenty of scarves, hats, mittens and socks -- with recommended colors for the signature "house colors" seen in the films. And there are three hats for little "house-elves." Really, it's amazing to realize how rich with knitting Harry's life is! You will be amazed by the Wizard Cap and Robe as well as by Errol, the Weasleys' old owl! Add to that ensemble Wand Cozies!! I wish I could knit ALL these items for my grandchildren, longtime fans. There are lovely sweaters, like Harry's classic red cable, Ron's Ragg Raglan, and House Sweaters with suggested colors for Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. There's even an Invisibility Shawl! And, for stocking stuffers, knit up bookmarks in all 4 House Colors. Within these pages lie well-written, easy-to-read patterns marrying stitchcraft and wizardy -- productive fun for all!

Technically Accurate Description and Fast Delivery
I am new at this and did not realize how wide a range of wear is allowed in the "very Good" category. I should have contacted the seller for more details about the "typical/minor wear" of the cover mentioned. in the description. I had hoped to send it to my granddaughter as a present, but I am now happily using it for myself. Next time I will ask questions. The seller kindly offered to refund my money, but I kept the book,

Beginner Knitter
I am a beginner knitter and got this book because as a child I have always been a Harry potter fan. I know some projects in the book are to experienced for me. I just started knitting about a week ago. All the stitches I know so far are Knit, Purl, Binding off, casting on, and the slip not. I don't really know anything else yet. I plan to learn cross stitch soon as well. I have a kit coming in the mail, so as soon as that arrives I will be learning cross stitch. Anyways, this book is fun to read even if you aren't going to use it. I know some of the things like the cape, errol, the wand case... I would probably never knit because their is no point. I'd never use those things. I would like to knit Molly's Amazing Technicolored Housecoat, but it is above my level of experience :( Then I have planned to knit a pair of socks for my grandpa for christmas. After I gain so much experience though, I would really really like to make Molly's Housecoat. It looks sweet :)

For Harry Potter fans who have a lot of knitting knowledge
Since I know the very basics of knitting, and am a Harry Potter fan, I am glad this book came out. Ms. Hansel is right that when you read the "Harry Potter" books, one of the characters is always knitting. Hence, the idea to create this book. You can tell that this book is dated because it only has items relating up to the fourth book, "Goblet of Fire." My chief complaint is that some of the patterns/projects designated as easy, aka first-year, are so complicated I can't understand them, and make these projects. The only ones that I can make are the Unicorn Wand Cozy and the Hip House Scarf. The book is fun to look at, hence the three-star rating. Maybe some day, if I'm brave enough, I'll try making Dobby's tea cozy hat.

Not for Muggles!
This book is perfect for any Potter fan. There are so many patterns that are must haves in the collection. The school sweater, Dobby socks, house scarves and house socks will make any fan very happy! The Errol stuffed owl is too funny for words. Mrs. Weasley's sweater is fantastic! These patterns were put together with care and great effort to reflect the items worn on the movie sets.

Love this book!
I love this knitting book! I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter and I love the whimsical patterns and I do believe it captures a lot of the "charm" of Harry Potter. Most are fairly basic scarves and sweaters, and I like that there are projects ranging from very basic to much more complicated for more experienced knitters (helps to have some knitting experience). Just a note: if you are a grown-up, you many not find a lot of these patterns usable as they may be too juvenile (ex: pointy witch hat) for you. As with all knitting books, I like to thumb through them before I buy them to see what is usable to me. If you are interested in inspiration for hats, scarves, socks and sweaters from Harry Potter, I think you'll be very happy with this book. If you are looking for more unusual, out-of-the-box projects, this book might disappoint. Personally, I thought it completely delivered!

Fantastic Book
Looking through the pages Amazon provides as a taster sealed the deal for me with this book. The patterns come in three difficulty levels but what I feel would be the most popular patterns (scarves, jumpers etc) can be easily knitted by someone relatively new to the hobby. The presentation format is very clear and the photos very professional, showing a fair amount of detail. The author provides a list of wools that would be suitable for the different house colours but they can be easily replaced with a preferred brand. The instructions are easy to follow and I think it would be difficult to get confused by them. The information at the back of the book is clear enough for me (as an English knitter) to "translate" the American terminology into English without difficulty and I fully intend to make as many of the garments included in the book as possible. I think most of my loved ones will be getting something from this book come Christmas! If you are debating whether to buy this book or not, I would go for it. In my opinion it is well worth the money!
