2-Word Review: GAME CHANGER
Bought these to replace the stock pickups in a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster I picked up used for pretty cheap... which I bought because I wanted a Jazzmaster sound in my arsenal, and loved the look and playability of the Mascis. Even liked the sound of the stock pickups when I demoed it in the store, but having never owned a Jazzmaster before, and not doing a TON of research about the Mascis before buying, didn't realize that the stock pickups were not "real" Jazzmaster pickups, but constructed more like P90s under a Jazzmaster cover. So, despite being reasonably happy with the guitar as-stock, decided to go for these.COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with the tone of these '65 Pure Vintage Pickups, and very pleased with the price of the Amazon "warehouse deal" I scored (nearly half the regular full price for new pickups in slightly defaced packaging). Clarity for days compared with the stock "Ducan-designed" Mascis pickups. Only thing that surprised me was how much "lower gain / output" they were, but that tracks with my experience with "vintage"-voiced pickups... from what I've been able to find out, the stock P90s measure at around 8.3k ohms, and these are around 6.8k... noticeably quieter, but again, clearer, more bell-like, wider frequency range on both ends.... my neck position (and even the much-maligned and misunderstood rhythm circuit) went from "so dark that it's practically unusable" to "probably my favorite guitar sound EVER." For whatever that's worth. In sum, a massive upgrade to the stock Squier pickups. Besides, I already have two other P90-equipped guitars... didn't need a third that just happened to look like a Jazzmaster... what I needed was a guitar that SOUNDS like a Jazzmaster. And this did it, in spades. Combined with the upgraded Fender AVRI trem I installed, I have a guitar that feels and sounds like $1k+ American Fender quality for considerably less than the normal new price for the guitar. If you're on the fence: get off it, and buy a set of these.UPDATE 6/22/19 - STILL LOVE ‘EM!!! :-)

You need these pickups for your Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII
I recently purchased a new Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII 12-string electric. What a great value! I love the guitar, but the stock pickups are the worst--very overwound and super high output. The stock pickups have very little high end sparkle and are just not good. These Fender Pure Vintage Jazzmaster pickups are the perfect solution. They are a drop-in replacement for the Squier pickups. They come with self-adhesive foam strips (you cut each in half and place two on each pickup per the included diagram) and high quality mounting screws that fit perfectly in the existing mounting holes. Of course, the most important feature of theses pickups is the sound. They really unleash the potential of this 12-string guitar and make it sound as good as any Rickebacker or Fender XII. I'm really happy with the guitar after this upgrade!

Says vintage on the package, sounds it in the guitar.
I bought a set of these to replace the Seymour Duncans in my MIJ 2007 Jazzmaster (a Quarter Pounder bridge and a Jazzmaster Hot neck) as my taste in pickups has turned far more vintagey over the past couple of years. When they eventually arrived (though well within the 1-4 month window advertised) they were well packed and very nicely finished pickups. Installing was simple for anyone with even remedial soldering skills, like me. The only thing to watch out for is that there is no documentation I could see in the packaging as to which is the neck and which is the bridge pickup. They're marked with either a blue or red dot but nothing else. I believe the neck is the one marked with the red dot (and it sounds right on mine) but I can't be certain. They're a great sounding pickup; bright, articulate but never harsh. They won't ever give you thudding bass but they neither are they icepick bright. Whoever voiced them did an excellent job.Just a great pickup at an excellent price.

Sound great
I never had a Jazzmaster with real Jazzmaster pickups..I put these in my cheap Affinity Jazzmaster Squire. They sound great..I actually like p 90s.(thats what I had)...but..These are different... Very chime like...Makes me wonder how one of these paired with ap 90 would sound?..but....... for now I'm happy playing with these.. for a bit...I got some positive feedback at a recent gig..So..I guess they are a great thing to upgrade your guitar..they are cleaner sounding than a p90.. which is fine if that's the sound you are looking for...Maybe I'll have to get another Affinity Jazzmaster Squire...and put p90s in that one!..ha ha..These Jazzmaster pickups are unique...which is fine.

Not bad, but they sound thin and shrilly
I bought these as a replacement for my JM American Pro II cause i didnt like the stock Vmod pups. The Pure Vintage 65 sounded better, but there are a couple things that these pups need to sound good. First make sure u got 1meg pots with a .33 tone cap and a decent treble bleed on the volume pot. I say this cause the JM Am Pro 2 had 500k pots and with these the Pure Vintage 65 sound very strat like. But even after i did all the necessary upgrades, these pups were still sounding thin and at times the highs would get overwhelming. Especially when using alot of drippy, surfy reverb. They are good, but they just didnt have enough fullness and character. I ended up replacing these with Seyour Duncan Antiquity I's and am really happy with those. But these are good if you are either on a budget or if you are upgrading a cheap JM, like a squire, and u dont want your pups more expensive then the guitar itself. But out of all the Fender JM PUPs lineup that u can purchase, these are the best option, just make sure the pots are 1megs.
