A highly readable and very insightful book that probably turned me off trading
I work as a commodities analyst and want to improve my knowledge of the trading world. This book, although old, remains a very helpful insight into a wide variety of trading topics and trading personalities. What I got out of the book most is that you can be successful in different ways - trade very often and very carefully with technical analysis. Or use fundamentals and trade big when you think the market will move. There are also many different personalities, thought the stereotype seems to be mostly people totally obsessed with money who are super stressed and have nothing happening in their personal lives. In order to be a good trader you have to be absolutely obsessive about the markets everyday. These people have lost everything and gained it back again.I think that was a bit of a takeaway from me - I don’t really admire too many of the people in the book. Trading was and remains a form of professional gambling without any real world tangible benefits that I can see.I would love to read more of the authors books as I find trading very interesting and this is super helpful insight, but this book turned me off the idea of being a trader full time more than anything. That in itself is very valuable insight.

I highly recommend this trading book as one of the best I've ever read.
Having traded for three years, I have found this book to be incredibly beneficial. It offers valuable insights into the strategies and approaches used by seasoned traders. While it may have been less useful earlier in my career, I have found it immensely valuable now, especially with the trading experiences I have accumulated over time.

Good but overhyped
Good, but if you’ve listened to a few traders podcasts they all say the same stuff

Insightful
I've read a number of trading books and would certainly rate this as one of the better ones. It is what it says. A series of interviews with some of the best and most successful traders in the world. The author asks good questions and also offers some of his own thoughts and summaries. I found the structure of the book to be very good. But of course most importantly you get to hear in their own words what approach top traders take to make large amounts of money from trading. The methods of the individuals was actually a lot more diverse than I was expecting and it soon becomes clear that many different paths can be taken.I've found with some other trading books that the writers are not always top traders themselves and with so much info out there, it can be difficult to find quality advice. With trading books and any informative non-fiction, I would always say check your authors. See if they have the credentials. The traders interviewed in this book certainly do. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in improving their trading.

Inspired reading even if you're not really into trading there's much that can be taken from this book.
This is just one of those books I could not put down, this is rarity in my case as I usually have three or four books on the go.What I like about market wizards is the way I felt as if I was in the room doing the interviews with top traders and the sense of humanity you feel from the traders. The guys interviewed in this book don't come across as cool ice machines or calculating fiscal generals. In fact you get the real sense that they could just have easily failed if it wasn't for a strong lucky streak in the beginning of their careers or being in the right trade at the right time to set them on their way.I'm sure most traders make fair losses when staring out and it's reassuring to realise that this is normal even for the most successful of traders. It makes it feel okay to, have a go - lose - change system - have another go.The advice in this book is also excellent and has helped me already. This book will pay for itself in successful trades so long as you stick to its principals.I would say that this is not and introductory book to trading and that some understanding of basic trading principals and language will be a great help when reading this book. If you are a complete beginner I would recommend this as your second book, your first being an introductory read.

Give it a read out of respect for the game if you plan on having trading as a part of your future
I thought the book was ok. I bought it from reading another review somewhere else. You do get little bits of wisdom throughout the book, however, some may not make sense, unless your in that stage of your development as a trader. The best thing about it, is that it shows you the different types of traders out there, and how they found their way through trying and learning different things. It shows that they are all human, and makes you realise that it is possible to succeed. They show you that it takes dedication, patience, and a willingness to learn. Also it makes you realise how vast trading is as many of them trade a number of things other than your usual currencies and commodities. Many of them trade stocks therefor it sounds as if people were more about researching what 'was hot'. If your looking only for technical analysis or money management or trading psychology (self image etc) then maybe something else will be better. So, I dont think it will improve your 'skill set' or make you a better trader, however it will motivate you a little, inspire you a bit, and give you an understanding of how things were back in the day with the people that had to be careful, because when they placed an order, it could move the market. On the plus side most of them are very genuine and brutally honest with the things they say, so things like cutting your losses and letting your profits run may start to have more meaning to you, when you hear them say it.Some good material to straighten you out would be:Keys To Emotionless Trading by Larry LewinThe Disciplined Trader by Mark DouglasJapanese Candlesticks Charting Techniques by Steve Nison.Oh and some stuff on money management, so we can learn to behave sensibly.

GREAT book...one of the best.
A great book and really insightful. It is structured in such a way that makes it easy to read and analyse. What would have been great is if the author provided a study guide as there are so many lessons in this book I cant keep up.I also purchased the audible session via amazon because it was on offer. I would recommend reading this book whilst listening to audible because it makes it so much better.
