A product that works as advertised
This product has never worked. After sending several emails back and forth, it was established that it had a faulty port. In order to send it back for warranty work I had to sign a waiver that I would not hold them liable for lost items from Fedex or UPS because they do not sign upon delivery. The problem is had they properly tested their product as advertised I would not have to send it back. In addition, I had already register the product on line yet I had to send all of my information again because they have a faulty system. What if I have more problems in the future?

I do not recommend.
Instead I recommend LaCie d2 Professional 6TB USB-C: Same price, 5 yr warranty and 5 yr data recovery warranty vs. 3 year warranty and 2 yr data recovery warranty for the BlackBox. Also, when copying from my SSD, 232 mb/s for the LaCie vs. 146mb/s (and142mb/s) for the Glyph BlackBoxes. Note: Copy speed is limited to about the speed of the slower drive when copy from a slower hard drive.PRO: Well build, quite, better than average warranty. Therefore, I purchased 2 of these. However, both failed (failed to recognize format) within a month when connected to my USB 3.1 ports. They did not fail and continued to recognize format when connected to my USB 3.0 ports. According to my computer manufacturer, USB 3.1 ports use different electronics.Since both failed, I returned them and purchased the LaCie. Before they failed, I copied from my SSD drive 54 videos (39.65 GB) and timed it. The first BlackBox took 4 min 31 sec, the other slightly longer. The identical copy was only 2 min 51 sec for the LaCie de Professional 6TB.CON: In addition to the failures described in the foregoing paragraph, the BlackBox has a protected partition so you cannot format the complete drive using Windows disk management. Instead you must remove the partitions using Command Prompt (AKA cmd.exe) clean command. Other external hard drive manufactures include a program that cleans and formats hard drives for Windows. If Glyph provided a format program or else provided instruction on their web site on how to clean and format the complete hard drive for windows, this would not be an issue.

Well Built Drive with Great Performance
I started using Glyph external hard drives back when I studied Audio Engineering. They've always been rock solid for me in both reliability and performance. This new Glyph BlackBox Pro 10TB is no different in that regard. Since I purchased it, it's been humming along like an absolute champ as I use it for both audio editing as well as storing my photo catalog. The drive itself feels extremely rugged and the rubber sleeve surrounding it provides extra protection from light impacts. I can't talk about drop tests because I'm not dumb (or rich) enough to drop any hard drive on purpose so maybe someone else can speak to that. Read and Write speeds, however, have been superb.

6TB Desktop Drive that Works
Picked up the 6TB version to be used out on set during production. We've had this out on 2 shoots so far and it is working as advertised, which is all you can ask for. It is a large drive, think a little smaller than a GDrive. It is externally powered. It is quiet, as it is currently offloading 5TB of footage right next to me now. Transfer speeds are as advertised. I do really like their 3-2-1 warranty, we retire most drives after a year, and knowing during that year they will overnight a new drive if we need it is great. We have been looking for a replacement for the GDrive and Lacie family and I believe we have found it. We will be picking up more and will be trying out their other products.I'll update this review periodically as we put this drive through its paces.

Excellent fast external hard drive
Fast as hell. I'm using with an Alienware 13 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, and although it was a bit of a pain to set it up for Windows 10, the support staff were superb in getting me the right information. Their web site proved useless for this. Note that it comes formatted for Apple, so this is not plug-and-play for Windows. It does come with both USB C to C cables, and USB C to A. It does not seem to run particularly hot, and It also does come with a wall wart power power supply. It is not USB powered. To give some idea of the speed, it used to take almost an hour on my Windows 7 computer with a WD My Book 1TB hard drive to back up my Documents folder. With the BlackBox Pro and my Windows 10 computer, the same thing took no more than 15 minutes.

like myself, you are working with music and video ...
This is a really solidly built drive that seems to work well as advertised. Unfortunately I had to return it as it emits a chattering buzzing noise that is loud enough to be at first distracting and then quickly intolerable, especially if, like myself, you are working with music and video editing. If they could fix that it would be terrific (albeit a bit expensive).

THIS DRIVE DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 10
I bought this drive as back up for my PC (running win 10). I've scoured thr internet, youtube, and the product website for help with the fact that it does not recognize the drive, ever, no matter what, etc. The only info I found came directly from the Glyph website, and it said the following: We have been able to reproduce a Glyph Manager failure to change drive modes with Windows 7 64-bit edition. We have established that Glyph Manager works properly in 32-bit Windows. While there is, at present, a driver issue with Glyph Manager when using Firewire on a 64-bit operating system, there is a workaround. Connect the Glyph RAID to your Windows computer using USB in order to change the drive mode. Once the drive mode has been changed, theGlyph RAID can then be connected via Firewire for formatting and data storage. The driver issue above only disaffects the use of Glyph Manager with a Firewire connection but not the use of the drive for any other purpose.Right.Don't buy this drive; you'll regret it.

Great, as always
Every year, I buy a new one. And every year, I am satisfied.
