I am really liking these...
I use an electronic drum kit these days and do not use an acoustic kit as much. With an acoustic kit I used at least a 5a Hickory drum stick. With an E Kit you really do not need to use a heavier stick cause you do not need to het a E Kit as hard as an acoustic kit.So I thought I would try a lighter slightly thinner stick (7a Maple), and I am glad I did. I find this fits my playing and I feel more comfortable with these. They have a nice clean smooth finish but not feeling like they will easily slip out of my grip. I have been pleased with them and will be ordering more.

Great pair of sticks
These drumsticks are in my list of best sticks to use. Durable, well balanced, and of course, an excellent sound for jazz. Odds are I'll keep buying these. Great work guys!

Light, fast, fun
I have about 15 to 20 pairs of sticks and these are the lightest sticks I have come across in my short 3.5 year drumming history so far.I play with these just about every day as I practice. I use them for band at church. Have been using the same pair for 6 months and it has weathered very nicely. I never broke a pair of sticks before, so don't take my play style as a gauge of the sticks' strength. These sticks make ghost notes effortless and fun in my opinion. If you don't have a set of light sticks, I would get these so you can get your brain to do something different... may help your play style/creativity. "different" helps mine. The short bead gives a lot more rebound than the oval bead drums I have. I play drums at church in a rather small venue so I'm always monitoring my volume. Of course, my drums won't get their best sound without hitting them as hard as you normally would hit drums... but these allow me to hit the drums a good bit harder without making as much a ruckus.Having used many bamboo-type spindle stick things, I am very careful about shouldering against cymbals... so I naturally put these at a safe angle when I want to stir those cymbals up a bit. I definitely wouldn't go like an axe to chop wood though, lol. Probably not your sticks for that.On a side note, if you are thinking about other gear and are looking, I'll just share some of the stuff I hit with these sticks:People have all kinds of setups, so I won't claim mine is the best, but I got my my DW Design 5 piece drum set for $1500 off Amazon...then loaded it with Evans G2 coated drum heads on top with evans G1's on the bottom heads. So many options; all depends on what you want to hear. I like the Toms with those drum heads. Warm tone and a little of that plasticy-attack noise from the double ply. The snare is another beast entirely.

light and solid
I've tried out a number of maple drumsticks over the years and I have to say that the Vater Sugar Maple Sweet Rides are one of my favorites. They are light but don't break easily as some other maple sticks do. The sticks are well made and I've noticed that Vater sticks seem to last longer than Vic Firths at least in my experience. I like the dimensions of these sticks although I wish the diameter was a little bit thicker. I tend to go back and forth between these and the sugar maple 8As depending on mood. anyway, you can't go wrong with these, especially at this price.

Best drumsticks on the market!
Vater has been my exclusive brand for several years now, due to their large selection of sticks in Sugar Maple, their high quality, and their consistency. I get all that at a better price point than the other major brands, as well!I highly recommend you give them a try.

Outstanding stick--a super-light, lightning-fast 7A
This is probably my second most favorite stick and the one I'd choose if I had an endorsement deal with any maker. It's basically the classic 7A design with a round bead (identical in profile to the Vic Firth American Sound 7A), but being made of maple, it's so much faster in your fingers. The upside is that you can whip around the kit effortlessly and faster than you ever did before. The downside is that you can't hit as hard, as the maple is too light to absorb much impact (you'll feel your hands gradually getting pummeled if you play hard for an extended period).Being this light and with a round bead, it has a nice, dry, trebly-bright sound, making it especially good for hi-hat and ride patterns and precise playing. The tip lasts longer than Regal's hickory Ping but not anywhere near as long as Regal's Maple 8A (my favorite stick) or other hickory 7As. Every Vater stick I have played has been ramrod straight and consistently weighted/balanced.If I could improve upon the Sugar Maple Sweet Ride, it would be to offer a lacquered version to make it easier to grip. The coating they currently use is velvety smooth and somewhat slippery.

Lighter weight with a nice woody sound and good durability.
These sticks are quite thin and very light. They are excellent for low volume playing situations and practice. I use only Vater sugar maple drum sticks in a wide variety of sizes to cover all types of music. They are high quality sticks that have good durability for maple sticks. I happen to love the lighter weight and great woody sound of maple sticks, and Vater seems to make the best.

The stick to use!
I've been playing for 12 years now and used a lot of different sticks. The Sweet Rides from Vater have, without a doubt, the most seamless feel of any stick i've touched a drum with. The name is also very accurate; the ride i use is of very good quality and I've been playing it for the last year thinking the sound was as good as it was going to get, I was wrong, the cymbal response you get from these is gorgeous and they somehow manage to draw out (at any volume) all the tones and rich nuances of a cymbals sound without being overbearing. You could not ask for more from a drumstick and I seriously doubt you'll find another pair like this, for a musical drummer they are perfect, enjoy them!

Handles are a bit slippery so you have to hold ...
Handles are a bit slippery so you have to hold on a bit tighter which is not ideal. Also the weight is so much less than other hickory or other wood sticks so it takes a bit of time to get used to.
