Don’t expect eternal truths revealed.
Lots of contextual background.

This book is a mystery about Rennes-Le-Chateau
This book is almost completely about the Rennes-Le-Chateau mystery, and the author's intent is also a mystery. This book is not recommended as a first book to introduce the subject, because the author presumes that the reader is already familiar with the Rennes-Le-Chateau mystery, and thus offers little background as introduction. The author begins with a rambling narrative first chapter, but later discusses some various aspects of the mystery in more detail. However, his main purpose is to say that the mystery is a Hoax, and thus does not discuss all of the evidence, only some of the evidence, the evidence that points to a hoax. The author makes many statements or assertions that are contrary to most other books on this subject, but without any reference footnotes as his sources. The author does haves some quotations in English and footnotes to some French language books on this subject, which books may be useful if the reader can read French. Markale's book was translated from French. Some of the author's statements seem to be sarcastic or mocking, and some are contradictory to what he said elsewhere in his book. He describes the interior of the Rennes-Le-Chateau church vaguely, without much detail, and only a few photos, and almost seems like a cover-up by the author. He says the mystery is a hoax, but also a mystery with no answers because the actual discovered secret parchments are still hidden by whoever obtained them and are still unseen by the public, but the public seen documents are fakes produced by joking conspirators in the 1950's. He says the supposed genealogies are a fraud. He says the occult stories and the secret society stories have no evidence, and that Beranger and the other associated priests were faithful priests, contrary to the claims of other book authors. The author's comments in a chapter about Mary Magdalene are also contradictory, saying she was a prostitute and also a wealthy princess descended from royalty and the wife of Jesus and mother of his children, supposedly ancestors of the Merovingian royal family of France. The author seems partly Catholic and partly New Age religionist that doubts Christianity.

The Church of Mary Magdalene: The Sacred Feminine....
I purposely purchased this book for me, not as a gift. It is very well written, has a lot of documentation in it, and one that I have now read several times and use for reference.

Worth a read.
Good read about the church of Mary. Good book about the most "stitched up by the church" person in history. If her voice had been listened to how much greater and kinder would the subsequent history have been.

Best book of it's type
As a historian interested in this mystery this book is the only one to give every piece of evidence how ever minor and has become my go to text.I recommend it as essential reading for this subject.

The Church of Mary Magdalene
A wonderful book for my bible study presentation on Mary MAGDALENE. Well written, plenty of illustrations and this book opened doors to a deeper understanding of her place in the early years of Christianity. Good for Lay Worship Leaders and Ordained Ministers. Richard
