How do you open the top part?

So it has like this Clíp thing on one side which has a lip that over hangs the glass on the inside (so it can’t be opened from within by Houdini’s :D) You push the clip up, and once the lip has cleared the glass, you can pull it to open. The lid slides sideways on like rails. So is very secure, I just put something with a bit of weight in front of the lock mechanism just to keep it weighed down, as I’ve noticed my tarantula testing it. Good design. It’s a hard rigid wire mesh lid that doesn’t bend or can be chewed through. The soft mesh lids are useles as tarántulas can chew through the mesh, or get the hooks on their feet stuck in the mesh. This can lead to broken/severed limbs with falls that can potentially be fatal. Avoid the soft mesh like a plague, and if you get one like that, replace with a Perspex lid. With this one the mesh is hard steel rigid, and the holes, while small at a couple of millimetres, are large enough to avoid any accidents.

Would this be ok to keep stick insects in?

We kept our stick insects in it. The only difficulty is opening it if the stick insects are all hanging from the top as it can’t be opened without squashing them

Is there access in top for thermostat prob

No but you could easily make a small hole

Pondering over one of these for a centipede. The lid concerns me where a chewing invert is housed. Is the lid similar to the exo-terra lids or solid?

Can't see this being an issue, it's not a flimsy bug mesh, it's solid AF

My snails are very happy with their new home!

Tank looks great, perfect for my pet snails. No damage to the tank when it arrived, it came wrapped up in bubble wrap to prevent this. Very happy with my purchase! Delivery was fast, received it earlier than I expected. Great value for money. Tank size is 21x21x30. Easy to assemble.

Good quality - secure lid

These are great little tanks for beetles, bugs and similar tiny pets. We have sun beetles in this one and they seem very happy. The lid slides and has a very secure feeling clip that it goes into. Recommend this type as they stack very neatly on top of each other to create your own bug zoo!

Brought for the size

Why did you choose this product over others?: With the size I thought it would be perfect for my water snails but one corner has a crack to it so had to use it for my leaf insects insects temporary, such a shame for the price maybe bubble wrap around the corners would be better.
