Great reference for art and design teachers. This is the small paperback version. Check its the size you want.
I knew it was a great book as we already have a well used larger version that is getting a little tatty. To be honest, I didn't read the size details so was surprised it was a mini version when it arrived. Not an issue in the end.

great book, a little simple
This is a great book of modern illustration. It does have a wide variety of styles and methods. My only complaint is that it seems to have more "simple" style art than I care for. It leaves it a little thin and insubstantial in that sense, but overall the majority more than makes up for this problem. Definately modern style, so if you aren't into that I don't recommend this.

Excellent content but the format is too small
A good book with a lot of fine and very inspiring illustrations. However the format of the book, in my view, harms the reader experience. The book is too small and the binding makes it difficult to open each spread, without risking to physically break the book.

Small book, large content.
Small book, Absolutely packed with illustrations (445, if you're counting) showing a huge range of different styles & ideas.So much interesting work on show here from artists big on talent, but short on celebrity.Keeps you amused for hours, & provides bags of inspiration. A very good buy.

If...
...you love illustration you will love this book. But be warned it doesn't just consist of one type of illustration. It's a whole bunch of different types.

I love the fact that it is quite a small book, but it fits so much in! The pages are packed with with full colour prints, some of them taking up the entire page, with little self portraits and information about each artist. Would recommend highly.
