A Life Well Lived: A Study of the Book of Ecclesiastes

Enjoyable study of a seemingly pessimistic book of the Bible: Ecclesiastes
Other than Chapter 23:1-8 (a time for everything), I always found Ecclesiastes confusing and negative. Tommy Nelson has really helped me find deeper meaning and understanding. He offers answers to the question, "How can we live by faith in a world that simply won't behave?" He is very down to earth (You have cursed many people in your lifetime, haven't you? Do you know why you've said things to them and about them? Because both of you are sinners.) Offermg great examples (Darryl Strawberry, Jim Elliott, and provacative metaphors (life is also 'played on the black keys' and 'flying by the panel), This book has enriched my perspective and understanding of God's wisdom, the brevity of life and the value of enjoying each breath. If you want a better understanding of Ecclesiastes, this is the Bible study to get.

Thoroughly Engaging!
Ecclesiastes has long been a favorite book of mine; I've taught it 4-5 times over the past 30 years. I've also collected quite an assortment of commentaries and books relating to Ecclesiastes during that time. Only recently I ordered Tommy Nelson's book -- I have found it very engaging. It's not a strict, rigid verse-by-verse commentary, but it does accurately address the gist of each section of Ecclesiastes. The author magnificently personalizes the truths and principles in every day language and circumstances in such a fashion that makes this book hard to put down! This is a most welcome and unique addition to my collection; it's gift-giving quality!

I just finished reading chapter four and the book just seems to get better and better
This book has incredibly deepened my understanding and appreciation of the book of Ecclesiastes. I have been using it for a small group study, and the questions promote a deep discussion. The only issue I have with the book is that the author does not believe in free will. For me, it doesn't take away from his insights. I just finished reading chapter four and the book just seems to get better and better. Beautifully written.

Helpful. Relevant. Encouraging and Challenging.
The Book of Ecclesiastes became much easier to understand and relevant for living today. Tommy Nelson has a down to earth way of approaching difficult passages while still being scholarly. He is honest and open with his illustrations and explanations. You will find this book both encouraging and challenging, which is ideal when studying any book of the Bible.

An amazing book explaining one of the best books in the bible .. the book of Ecclesiates
well written book about one of my favorite books in the bible the book of Ecclesiates.I really appreciate the Author's explanation of every verse of each chapter. I'll be giving it to someone as a gift who never had happiness in life and is constantly asking "is there more to life" hopefully Tommy's book will give an insight to what life is really all about. ... it's about Christ.

All is vanity and a chasing after wind.
A really realistic book about the total and utter futility of life, with knowledge increases sorrow and good times are deceitful. Good whether you’re a Christian or not. A wisdom book in effect.
