Syba USB 3.0 Dual HDD Slot Dock, good little dual dock station for my Macs
I have a 6TB 3.5" hard drive containing assorted content that I want to copy over to a new 8TB drive. I will then use the dock to hold these two drives as external hard drives for my 2012 Mac Mini (w/i7 quad core processor running Sierra). Rather than buy a more expensive dual-drive "enclosure," I looked for the cheapest dual dock that Amazon offered, and this was it. Despite being advertised for the PC (the offered cloning software is PC-only), I went ahead knowing that if it's USB, then it will work just fine on a Mac. Indeed, that is the case.I unwrapped everything, connected the dock to my Min with the included USB3 cable, plugged in the included 12V power adapter, put the 6TB drive in the "SOURCE A" slot and the new 8TB drive into the "TARGET B" slot (although I don't think the placement order is important for my purposes), then powered it up using the ON/OFF switch at the back. I heard each drive spin up, and in short order, 6TB drive mounted on the desktop and the new drive indicated "needs to be initialized." It launches Disk Utility when you click on "initialize," you tell DU to erase the drive and format it. About 15 seconds later, the formatting is finished, and the new drive is ready to go. I highlighted the files in the 6TB drive to be copied over to the 8TB drive, did a drag and drop, and just like that, the copy operation was off and running. While the copy operation is taking place, the little status front panel LED flashes Red/Green. Perfect! The other front panel LEDs remain off. All of the above took less than 5 minutes to do. I'm a happy camper.I made a measurement of transfer speed by using my wrist watch's timer function, and observed the transfer of 80GB in 853 seconds, which translates into a transfer rate between drives of about 94 MB/sec. Some will say "that's too slow!" However, you have to remember that data must first be read from the source drive, and then written to the target drive. This "ping pong operation" all has to go through the one USB3 cable between the dock and the Mac. Naturally, this slows down the entire operation. That's just the way USB3 works. I have measured the transfer speed of these drives to be closer to 120 MB/sec when just doing a straight data dump, but that was when I used two separate enclosures with two separate USB3 cables to my Mini. Thus, I'm not surprised at the relatively slow speed of the transfer rate. I think it is well within expectations of what the speed should be considering that this is a dual dock. Besides, when the transfer is complete, I will be accessing data one drive at a time, so read speeds will be faster. The important takeaways from my experience are1) works just fine on a Mac Mini running Sierra2) handles 6TB and 8TB drives flawlessly3) reasonable transfer speeds of a bit less than 100 MB/sec when moving data between two drives plugged into the two slotsThe enclosed PC software is useless on a Mac, so I immediately tossed it. I will never use the clone button. In fact, I fear it if I should ever inadvertently push it. I intend to break open the unit and disable the switch, just in case.In summary, it's a great little dual dock, particularly for the money, and will serve my purposes just fine. Mac users have nothing to fear when using it.

Works with USB 2.0/3.0
A bit confusing to figure out at first, but now that I know what I'm doing it's pretty user friendly. It's almost like inserting thumb drives in a usb Port. 2.5", or 3.5" SATA drives of any storage capacity. I've tried on Windows 7 Ultimate(32 bit), and Windows 10 pro(64 bit) with no issues. Says for USB 3.0 but works with USB 2.0 also.

Works Great / Excellent Value
I had a little hesitation because of the mixed reviews. The great price and design made me want to give it a try. Given that heat and friction are enemies of mechanical devices, I’ve always done what I could to keep my drives cool. My previously owned docking stations all had the ‘toaster’ design where half the hard drive stayed in the enclosure (heat chamber). The open design on this one facilitates cooling better than any others I’ve owned. I also mounted a 5V USB fan with Velcro to dissipate heat. The fan points at Source A slot (probably the only one I’ll be using). If I have a need to clone I’ll use my desk fan.I tested several HDDs and SSDs and the station performs very well. I have one older Seagate drive that I had to assign a drive letter. Windows disk manager could see the drive but it didn’t mount. A couple of mouse clicks in disk manager was all it took. Other hard drives and SSDs mounted flawlessly. Unlike other docking stations I’ve used, this one supports SMART data without a hiccup. During testing, I wrote several large image files to a standard 7200 RMP drive. Transfer speeds were 115-130 MBs over USB 3 port. I then restored an image file to same disk writing about 80 GB of data. The temperature maxed out at 30° C and came down promptly when image restore completed. I may find an occasion to use the clone function, but, that’s not why I purchased. In summary, I’m more than pleased with this station. The hoarder in me says to buy another while they are still available. Great performance at a great price.

i don't like bad reviews so this review is on this particular ...
OK, i don't like bad reviews so this review is on this particular one i have ,Amazon shipping was super fast as usual, the drive was not so . i wanted to clone my 230 SSD to a 250 normal HDD , it ran all night and stayed at 25% , the next day i did another trial keep in mind i followed the instruction to the letter, later on that day, same thing still 25%this SSD used to be my main drive, after few trial i decide to keep the target HDD connected to Syba, and moved the source to another USB 3.0,and i used sea-gate wizard to clone it, it worked very slow transfer ,and it defeat it's purpose of dual slot ,so i decide to return it.

What a great find this was
What a great find this was. I have two 2.5" USB enclosures, one USB 2 and one USB 3, that are either slow, unreliable(USB conection drops), junky, or hard to use. I've more or less taken to using this dock permanently plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port on my laptop. The power supply is adequate for two 3.5" drives, and it reliably benchmarks around 100MB/sec on both drives. I don't have a spare SATA SSD lying around so I don't know how close to the USB 3.0 limit (5Gbps) it can run, but it's as good as an external enclosure for a mechanical hard drive. It has no issue with a 3TB pulled from an external that failed (controller thankfully), using disk management to convert to GPT partition. I haven't used any of the software-based or hardware duplication abilities, or the included software at all for that matter.Minor complaints: The included cable is too short and is thick/inflexible. It uses a weird type A to USB 3 type B male connector, so could be replaced but would probably cost more than it's worth. The power brick is big for a wall adapter monopolizing a strip/block, I wish it were in-line. The 2.5" adapter blocks are easy to lose. It was unreliable plugged into a hub, but I have a cheap hub.

Works as expected
I bought it for making the occasional back up after my 3 year old Thermaltake 2-drive dock failed. I haven't tried the built-in disk replication feature and don't know how well it works, and I use linux so i have no idea if the included software is any good (I don't even know what it's for - Windows drivers maybe?). The built-in status LEDs are small but handy. The one negative I see is that, unlike my Thermaltake dock where they were built in, the included 2.5" drive spacers are separate and could very easily go missing between now and the time I actually need one. I'm sure this was a cost-saving thing and not a huge deal for my kind of use where a simple piece of cardboard would serve as a temporary spacer, but if you think you'll be using 2.5" drives a lot it's something to be aware of.Pros - works as expected; handy status indicators on the front where they're easy (albeit small) to see; came with USB 3.0 cableCons - separate 2.5" drive spacers - I can see these getting lost before they're neededNo comment - included software, one-button drive replication (I don't need either)

Perfetto
