I'm not sure I understand your question, but I can tell you that the grinding mechanism is a simple, sturdy construction, all steel. It can be set for any grind, from coarse to fine, by turning the screw on top. There are no replaceable or interchangeable parts, but I've had mine for 30 years and have never had any trouble with it.
