Rockschool Classics Guitar Grade 2 (2018)

These books are usually more expensive so this one is good value and has some good tunes to learn

Tab is very easy to follow and the addition of the 2 downloadable backing tracks for each song made it super easy to hear either how it should sound or you can just play along with the backing track.This really helped me to learn and get my timing better, however, most of the songs are incomplete. Enter sandman misses out the famous intro! So this is a great learning resource that will help you play better, but if you want to learn the whole song then you need to look elsewhere.

Covers the ground needed to pass the rock school exam at grade 2, and does so in a friendly and straight forward way.It is harder however to assess how good a book it is overall compared to the competition. It is required for the Rockschool exam. Ie you have to show the book, and get it signed, presumably so it can't be used for the exam by someone else.That means a) it has no second hand value, which affects the value for money. (What happens if you have more than one in the family who is taking their grades. Does reach have to have their own new copy?)b) you HAVE to have bought their book inorder to sit the exam. In addition to the examination fee that is. (Seems to me that the exam should be a test of competence, however acquired. Not a test of whether you have purchased their book?)

My son is doing the rock school grades the books are easy to follow and the tracks and fun to learn. The backing tracks are downloadable so no CD needed.

Great but is a bit complicated on the chords

This grade book with the white guitar on the front is not the up to date 2019 syllabus. It does not contain all the new songs. The new one book for 2019 has a rock star on the front.Cannot fault the seller though - the book arrived quickly and was exactly as described.
