Impressive piece of kit
Taking a punt on an any product with literally one single review is a gamble, although the one short review did carry some weight imo. I received this today and have used it to make two sets of coffees, and whilst I cannot comment on the longevity of this, being so new, I can say it is heavy duty, feels well made and has a consistent pressure for tamping. The edges are perfect for my DTP and leaves almost no grounds clinging to the wall of the basket which is a common problem with the built in tamper. This made two very consistent coffees and providing every future coffee is as good as the last two, I can whole heartedly recommend this. Am a coffee snob lolWill update after used for a while to comment on how it holds up over time.

Improved coffee on first use!
For the price, this product is amazing and feels great. Just get the feel of the calibration first by using testing out on a flat surface or use scales. On first use my coffee taste improved. I have been dialling in my coffee grinder for the past few days using scales and timers, this tamp has confirmed my tamp pressure was all over the place and wasn't in the slightest consistent. With this tamp I get a more consistent tamp pressure which has improved my coffee taste.Updated to show image of pressure. I get between 28-31lbs of pressure each time. Plunge about 60% of the way.

Seems ok
It does the job and is cheap enough, it’s not a nice bit of weight to it and will complement a wdt tool of some kind in a home setup, one thing I’d love for this to have would be a click at the bottom once correct pressure is applied but the description doesn’t say this is something it does so can’t really be upset about this. Good product but doesn’t stand out from anything else on amazon really unless you spend way more, at this price point would be nice to see more innovation to improve tamping.

Very high quality
It was quite difficult to find a tamper the right size for my Gaggia machine. This 53cm is the perfect fit and works really well, very impressed with the speed of delivery too.

Calibrated to what, and how?
I'm not sure what I expected here. Maybe something like a torque wrench where when you reach a certain pressure it lets you know and stops you pushing harder. But, and thinking about it logically it's quite obvious, it's just a tamper with a spring. So the harder you press, the more the spring compresses and the harder the coffee is tamped. There's no cut off at 30lbs.Varying the pressure in, varies the pressure out!I got from 0lbs to over 50 depending on how hard I pressed with no way of telling how much pressure was being applied to the coffee.I'll return to using the bathroom scales to learn how much 30lbs feels like!

Perfect for the job.
I purchased this because the one that came with a Sage Coffee maker was really a complimentary one, very lightweight . This has proved to be excellent. Has changed the end result of the coffee taste considerably. Fits perfectly and tamps perfectly. Highly recommend.

Great, solid tool for a coffee nut
Like most things you buy for the perfect shot it’s probably not needed. But I really enjoy using this tamper, I know every time it is perfect and leaves less margin for error. Very solid and well made.

Decent tamper to start out with good quality and weight
If you are starting out tamping your own ground coffee this is a decent quality well constructed and decently weighted tamper, It wont break your wrist like some of the goliaths on the market and gives you a good idea of the correct force you should be using to tamp the ground coffee. Its easy to take apart by unscrewing, with only a few components including the tension spring. If you do this make sure you check the order and orientation of the parts so that you can re-assemble them correctly. I did apply a few drops of machine oil (singer sewing machine) to the shaft and spring. This has given it a much smoother action and made it feel far higher quality than it should for the cost.Overall very pleased, and whilst I use a more expensive tamper for another machine it is too big for the smaller filter basket that I bought this one for, and to be honest besides having a fancy Italian name and wooden handle it doesnt do anything different. In summary, if you are starting out and not sure how hard you have to tamp the coffee grounds this is a very good buy.If you are experienced and know exactly what you are doing the you probably wont be looking at this anyway. but dont be fooled by the cheap cost it is a good quality sturdy product and the force is pretty much spot on as I tested it on a pressure gauge.
