I originally bought Salival in 2000 for $35. I graduated from high school in 2001 and moved to another state... I had the CD in a CD wallet (remember those things?) but the rest of the box set was left behind. When I came home, it was gone. Just bought it again, brand new still in the manufacturer's shrink wrap for $200.00... I wont leave this one behind...When It arrived, in great condition, I shouted "I am complete!" (Like the devil on Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny) and my wife became angry... all this time (13 years) she thought that she completed me. But Jerry Maguire wasn't a Tool fan... just a tool. Real people with depth require more than another person to be complete.

I got this when it was released long ago. I've never seen anyone else with it. I'm sure many have been destroyed lost etc. Over the last 18 plus years. It's only gonna become more expensive

I can't believe there has not been a review that brings up the absolute diamond this holds. The remake of Push it. Push it was great even before but on here..... I listened to that song exclusively enough to justify buying the album let alone all the extra stuff that came with Push it!

Talk about investment - I paid $32 at Borders five years ago. Now that is a rate of return!But I won't part with it. The DVD reminds you of why Tool is an art metal band, emphasis on art. Everytime I watch Stinkfist ("Track #2" to the MTVheads), I see something new in it.The live songs are quite excellent. I first heard the "No Quarter" cover on a college radio station, driving about midnight on the Illinois-Missouri border. It turned a dark, dimly-lit, desolate drive into an ethereal experience.It's also neat to feel the growth toward Lateralus, with songs becoming less angry (as on Aenima) and more pondering, more inward-looking.

If you want to see Tool's 4 music videos from Undertow and AEnima, plus the Hush video from their Opiate EP - which is not nearly as cool as the others - then look no further.Those who have seen a Tool video pretty much know the consistent level of weirdness that they should expect. Those who haven't should proceed immediately in a direction that will allow them to see one. Their blend of insanity is vaguely reminiscent of The Twilight Zone, Aphex Twin videos (Come To Daddy!), and Japanese horror films.As Salival is no longer made and is in high demand, the price point is fairly steep. I have no idea why this DVD would be discontinued other than to hype Tool, or some other marketing or image thing; but the prices that people pay for it on eBay are indicative of the exceptional artwork contained within the Salival DVD.The live CD included is good too, but it doesn't affect me like the videos - and I'm not some sort of MTV hooligan, either. (Actually, I'm not even a TV hooligan, but that's beside the point.)Anyone who has been to a Tool show will see much of their live abilities coming through in this CD. Anyone who hasn't will quickly come to understand and even love Live Tool, the Other Dark Tool.Their live "Third Eye" is possibly even more amazing than the studio version, and "Message To Harry Manback II" is an entertaining intermission. Zep fans will appreciate Tool's cover of "No Quarter." When metal bands (or nu-metal, or alt rock, or whatever you call Tool) cover classic rock songs, it usually seems to work.If you can afford it, and you really dig Tool, then this product comes highly recommended. If you don't, buy the VHS version, or download some videos (legally), or watch a friend's.

..Tools „Salival" ist für mich eine zwiespältige Angelegenheit, denn verglichen mit den anderen drei-einhalb Alben bekommt man hier für t00l-verhältnisse am Wenigsten fürs Geld.Die DVD enthält fünf von nun insgesamt sieben der von Jones, DeLeon und Grey gedrehten Musikvideos in Dolby Surround 5.1 abgemischt. 4 offizielle, eines (Hush) als „Easteregg" im (extravaganten) Menü versteckt. Allesamt einmal gesehen zu haben ist eigentlich essentiell für Fans, denn wie wichtig der Band die visuelle Ebene ihrer Kunst ist, zeigt der unglaubliche Aufwand, der dort offensichtlich betrieben wird. Doch abgesehen davon, dass viele potenzielle Käufer die Clips bereits kennen, glänzen auch noch andere tool-facts mit Abwesenheit auf dem Silberling. Das ist wirklich (!) schade denn als Fan der Band weiß man, welchen Seltenheitsstatus Interviews, Liveauftritte und Dokus in Bild und Ton haben. Die CD ist - verglichen mit den meisten Alben anderer Bands - natürlich der Hammer. Die gewohnten 74 Minuten Spielzeit reizen die Kapazität des Rohlings bis aufs Äußerste, die Atmosphäre gegenüber den restlichen Platten ist identisch. Tools Version von Led Zepps „No Quarter" ist für mich das beste Cover, das ich je gehört habe, besser als das Original meiner Meinung nach, ebenso die leicht modifizierte „Push It" Variante und "Merkaba"-live sind einfach unglaublich. Der Rest beschränkt sich auf Live-Versionen (Third Eye, Part of me) einer Dreingabe (Message to Harry Manback II) und dem Peach-Cover „You lied". Das letzte Stück heisst bei meiner Version zwar „Lame", doch der (originelle) Inhalt ist sicherlich derselbe. Insgesamt aber explodiert die musikalische Bombe auf der CD mit eindeutig weniger Schlagkraft als bei Tools anderen Werken.

Ich besitze alle Tool-Alben, Perfect Circle - schätze und liebe sie. Doch ein Album ist irgendwie immer unerreicht - weils eben Limited is. Und aufgrund der Rezesionen hier wohl auch nicht unbedingt das das man haben MUSS.Vergangene Woche ist mir der Geduldsfaden gerissen - ich steh auf Klangqualität und auf CDs, kurz gesagt ich will das Orginal hören. Und das hab ich jetzt auch :-DIch kann nur sagen - jeder der nur im Ansatz Tool mag liegt bei Salival richtig! Nachdem man so oft die Alben gehört hat ist es einfach fantastisch zu hören wie sich die einzelnen Stücke weiterentickelt haben in der Live-Version! Man merkt dass die Band lebt und wächst, sich teilweise neu interpretiert und mindestens genau so gut ist wie man es Ihnen nachsagt!Die Klangqualität hat mich für einen Live-Mitschnitt begeistert! Würde ich nicht hören dass es Live ist würde ich behaupten - es ist nicht Live :)Die DVD ist auch fantastisch - ich kannte bisher die Tool-Musikvideos nicht. In dieser Qualität betrachtet kommt die ganze Kreativität die in die Videos gepackt wurde rüber und man kann sich sein eigenes Bild machen.Hätt ich gestern nach dem Hören die Rezesion geschrieben hät ich wohl gesagt:WOOOW - WAHNSINN! und häts nicht weiter in Worte fassen können.Hoffentlich kommt bald wieder was von Tool! Kanns kaum erwarten!
