lang, k.d. - Live From San Antonio

If you like k.d Lang, as I, and millions do, you must get this performence in concert at the Majestic Theate in San Antonio. For me, this is k.d. at her sparkling best. Impish flirting with the audience and her superb backing band and singers. Giving her all performing INGENUE in it's entirity (featuring 2 songs that always bring a tear to my eye, they are so beautiful - they are of course "MISS CHATELEINE and CONSTANT CRAVING", but tho they are the jam on my bread, all the songs are sung to perfection, and "HALLELUJAH still hits where it hurts. Beautiful set, simple but impressive. Great sound, and plenty of her charm and her love of her band is clear to see when she chats to them all (for some 10 minutes) halfway through the show. The disc runs for 1 hr 43 mins, excellent picture, photography and sound,and my wife and I watched in two sessions. There are no subtitles which would have been helpful for my wife, but the show is so good it didn't matter too much. (I do wonder what the reaction of someone who didn't know her work at all would think? I would love to believe they would just recognise a superb performer and then go out and buy some of her wonderful Albums!!)

Kd toured to celebrate 25 years since INGENUE was released. She performed the whole album live in the same sequence as on the album . She gave concerts in the USA, Canada and Australia but, sadly, not the UK. Luckily this dvd captures her complete concert at San Antonio with not only all of Ingenue but Hallelujah and other more recent songs. Amazon.com says that the dvd is US region only but through Amazon.co.uk i got this dvd from Switzerland and it was playable in all regions . So it might be best to check which version you are buying. Needless to say she is in fine voice and the concert is FABULOUS.

After originally cancelling a pre order last year because the Region was changed from 0 to 1, which meant I wouldn`t be able to play the DVD in the UK, I kept reading that it did play here. Getting impatient for it`s UK release, I gave in to temptation and ordered it anyway. I am so glad I did. I have loved kd lang since she started her amazing career, & can`t wait to see her UK tour in July this year. I know I won`t be disappointed. In the meantime, I will enjoy this DVD more than once. A glass of wine, lights low and sound bar on............ KDs voice is as beautiful as ever.I found the quality of this DVD excellent and was extremely happy with the early delivery of the product. It arrived in time for my birthday.... very happy indeed.

Having been a fan of KD Lang for many years I was happy to learn that a blu ray was about to be released and when played on a large screen TV with 7.1 surround sound it feels like being in attendance at the gig! Would love to see an Ultra HD Dolby Atmos release but that's probably just being greedy! Next mission: tickets for Kathryn's Glasgow gig in July to see the real thing!

Sadly, I suspect this is her final tour; wouldn’t have missed it for anything. If you weren’t there, (proud to have been at Hammersmith, London) this is the next best thing. Greatest female singer of the 20th and 21st century, (even at 58!)

Enjoyed this very much. Have been a k d fan since she began with her Patsy Cline style and you know after all these years she still has it. Great versions of songs from Ingenue with a few other faves thrown in and her patter is as cheesy as ever. Loved it!
